Rodney Hood: Won't be missed

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would like credit for officially starting the “just cut him” bandwagon. You’re welcome, RCF. ;)

They are a team to watch for sure. We almost agreed to a Sign&trader for Hood to the Kings this summer, but they wouldn't pony up the money he wanted($9-10 million a year...I think Sac's best offer was in the 7-8 range...Hood really messed up not taking it, IMO.)
Ahhh yes, betting on yourself and failing. This should help him get over his nervous diarrhea.

Shots fell tonight, better trade him tonight before he turns into a pumpkin...

Was surprise when he threw that dunk down to be honest but I think that gave him the confidence to attack all game. Best game he’s had as a Cav for sure.

Not buying it. He has a long way to go before he proves worthy of removal from the “just cut him” club.

I liked what I saw, for sure. But, we better trade him quick because we all know just what type of Rodney Hood we will be seeing again in the near future.

Actually the Rodney Hood last night is what we were expecting. What he was doing prior seemed to be the anomaly.

Really? So, Lue was just holding him back?

I mean, it's certainly plausible. I would love to be wrong about Rodney Hood.

My theory about Rodney Hood is that he falls apart/collapses under pressure and he is now realizing that there is zero pressure on him. No one expects the Cavs to win. And at this point no one expects Rodney Hood to be a leader or a star. So he can relax and make shots.

May or may not be true, at certain points during the regular season last year he was OK too so maybe he is just reverting to the mean, but it fits how he is way worse in the playoffs than the regular season.

Issue is, do you want to invest in a player who won't be that helpful in the future if the team improves and makes the playoffs?

I just hope he keeps playing well and we can send him and JR to a team for something pretty good.

Also remember our shooting coach in Damian Jones was let go too. Maybe Damian and Phil Handy before him just harped on Hoods footwork too much and it got into his head. I rewatched Hoods highlights from last night and his footwork doesn't look as good on 3s but he is making them. He is shooting wider and with one foot forward.

The Hood we say last night shot nearly 70% from the floor, and 4-4 from 3. There's no way we expected that, or can expect that to continue. He did play better overall, but he was also a shooter who got how. The real question with Hood is how he is going to play when he's not ridiculously hot.

Drew said something interesting last night post-game. He said Hood is "a passive guy by nature", which really struck me that Drew was so willing to say something like that publicly.
