Shumpert was awesome in 2015. Loved him. Really too bad.
He is a major reason the 1st unit sucks so bad. He doesn't do anything but score and rarely does that efficiently. Just another Cav killer that comes here to die. He is insane to not take that sign and trade to the Kings. Fuck. Maybe we could have had a complete mystery box instead. I want Nwaba to take all of his minutes. Nwaba was willing to come here because he knew Hood was ahead of him.
Can we please just cut him?
I don't like Hood and I don't think he's part of the future, but believe it or not, he's in the middle of the pack for net +/- on the team.
Compare him to the guys at the bottom and it looks like Hood's only failure has been as a tank driver. OK, he's not that ineffective as a tank driver. The Cavs as a team are still losing with Hood on or off the floor, they just are not losing as fast when he's on the floor.
Here's a link to the Net points per 100 for the team for players with > 200 minutes.
spoiler - Nance has the worst point differential, followed by Osman and Sexton.
You would think he could carve himself a bench role but then you remember he's mentally weak so he needs 30 starter minutes to put up an invisible 5/12 shooting with no signs of life on defense and zero off-ball screening or cutting. This was probably the worst team imaginable for him or maybe last years run completely broke his confidence.
Even when he starts off hot, Hood can start choking at any time, I think he finished the 1st quarter shooting 5/7 and then in typical Hood fashion finished 1/9.
He missed 3. Rebounds that were right there in some crucial moments. He has no real nose for the ball.
He’s a good tanker. Need him for that this year. They can trade him or let him go for a box of chocolates, or any other preferred snack. Perhaps something the young bull likes.
I don't think we will get anything in trade for him because of the lack of bird rights and how he played in the playoffs last year. Also his stats are even back up to his Utah days.
I do think he plays better with more structure and set plays. Hopefully once we trade away alot of the vets and maybe Clarkson, we can get a backup PG and work on set plays alot more.
Rodney needs the JR treatment.
I was trying to figure out why I enjoyed the game more than usual last night.
Then I realized Hood was out.
Dude was replaced by 2 gleague guys seemlessly. Rodney is a ball stopper. I suspected as much, but the better ball movement in the 1st unit was really glaring last night. We honestly need a guy like Jones who will take and open 3 and defend
And pass the ball
Aren't you pro tank? be careful what you wish for.
Rodney Hood looks like our best tank commander.
I wanted to cut him after he was a bitch in the playoffs, and I still stand by that. He's worth more not on the team than whatever trash we get back for him.
