Denzel Ward

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tackling the way he does makes him prone to concussions.

If anybody remembers Greg chewing him the fuck out in camp over this exact tackling, now you see why. Gregg was right. Hopefully Ward brushes up this offseason and learn a better and more safe technique.

No sense for a little framed player tackling a bear of a TE up top.

Plenty of time to heal up. No contact coming up for 6-7 months. He’ll be fine.

That hit wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I don't think any helmet to helmet contact was made at all. His reaction was scary though. Dude needs to learn how to tackle tight ends of he's going to have a very short career.

It's not helmet-to-helmet. The problem is when you tackle a big guy, head first, into the upper body (generally the area with the most muscle), there will alway be whiplash. Even if you make no contact with your head. The body jerks back, and because head is down, it exerts pressure back towards the neck. That leads to concussion risks.

The good news is that it is an easily fixable problem that will not negatively effect his game in any way. I imagine missing three out of four weeks due to concussions will inspire that change, too.

Still, Ward was incredible today. Driskel stopped looking towards him by the second half.

The NFL's top-5 cornerbacks through Week 15

Coming in at number five, we have a tie between Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones and Cleveland Browns first-round pick Denzel Ward, who have both earned a coverage grade of 84.8. On the year, Byron Jones has allowed just one touchdown into his coverage to go along with 14 forced incompletions, and his 25.4 forced incompletion percentage currently ranks second among all corners with at least 200 snaps. Denzel Ward, who has had a stellar rookie season, has hauled in three interceptions and has also forced 10 incompletions.

Was fun watching Ward this year. Hopefully he understands that going low on big TEs can help extend his career for years.

According to ESPN, Williams said Ward is “much better this time around.” Apparently, the team is hopeful that he’s able to play this week against Baltimore.

Guess it wasn’t as definitive as we anticipated.

Couldn't agree more. Absolutely no reason to play him this week.

If he’s cleared, he’s going to play. Honestly can’t imagine any player on the team deciding not to play if medically cleared.

Thought I totally agree he should be shut down.

We won't need CBs anyway against Lamar.
