The Chubb-Hub Yardage Delivery Service

I think Fournette is excessively overrated and have thought that since before he was drafted

I think everyone was enamored with his physical running ability, which led to some outlandish AP comparisons, and he did have one great year, stat-wise - but I just remember him always getting bottled up by BAMA. He was good but wasn't consistent.

Well, he was great his rookie year last year, going for just over 1600 total yards and 14 touchdowns, including the playoffs. Hard to really evaluate this year, though, as he's been hurt for basically all of it. He had what was probably his first healthy game all year this past week and he had about 110 total yards and two touchdowns.

Fournette is legit. He's just not a prospect on the same level as Barkley, who I'd consider to be a guy with potential generational talent/athleticism. But he's a solid top ten NFL workhorse back if he can stay healthy.

The one thing that has me most excited about Chubb is that he seems like an incredibly intelligent football player regardless of his physical abilities. While he might not be the most athletic ala Barkley, he runs with incredible patience, which is so rare to see from a rookie RB - that tells me he possesses an incredible feel for the game, even when played at the NFL speed.

Long gone are the days of watching Trent Richardson try to run straight up an offensive guard's a**hole.

He's not as athletic as Barkley, but it's not as far off as you'd think. Chubb is a 98th percentile SPARQ-X guy and Barkley is 99th percentile. Barkley's a bit faster (4.4 to 4.5), which is extra impressive because he's both taller and heavier than Chubb, but they are pretty close across the board. Chubb is actually really, really close to David Johnson as far as athletic profiles go. Johnson's got the edge in agility score but Chubb is stronger and a little better built for the position.

you just gonna completely ignore how ruthlessly inefficient he has been? Pointing at Sunday’s game as if he performed well when he had 24 carries for 53 yards... man that would make Hyde blush

Single-game efficiency stats are pretty meaningless. Last year he averaged 3.8 YPC. Not great, but also not terrible when you consider the Jags offense is basically built around pounding the ball and they have a QB who is wildly inconsistent as a passer from week to week.

Not a big fan of Fournette, and it was a gigantic red flag for me when he tested so poorly (11% SPARQ) despite being billed as an athletic beast who was lacking the finer points of playing RB, like pass catching and blocking. I'd say he's a below average starter and a bit of a relic in today's game since he's not good enough as a runner to justify his lack of value in a pass play.

So the best random stupid Chubb stat I just discovered while trying to compare him to other backs with only 94 rushing attempts so far is that Chubb is basically tied with two Alfreds in rushing attempts in both Alfred Blue and Alfred Morris.

What are the chances Chubb is tied with 2 people named Alfred much less the nfl having two running backs named Alfred, lol
1 outta 99500

As far as I can find, Fournette doesn't have a SPARQ score, so not sure where you got that 11% from. He runs a 4.5 forty, though, and he's 97th percentile in size/speed score, so I feel like it would be virtually impossible for him to be an 11th percentile SPARQ guy. From what I can find, Fournette didn't do enough of the Combine events to receive a SPARQ score, as he bowed out after doing the 40 (which he killed) and the vertical jump (where he predictably did poorly).

How is it meaningless? You brought up his yards and touchdowns to paint it as a good game. I brought up that it took a whole hell of a lot of touches to get those numbers

And 3.8 isn’t going to get it done in this league. It really doesn’t matter what the circumstances around it are, that’s putrid. For a top 5 pick I don’t care what the circumstances are you’re drastically underperforming if that’s your efficiency.

Not sure how they calculated it since he missed a bunch of tests, but the vertical was a gigantic red flag.
