Rudy Gay

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Am I missing something here , do people really think that we could get Rudy Gay for Haywood contract in maybe the 24 pick.....Want there be an handful of teams that could use A player like Gay, that would trump that offer, i'm not even sure if the Kings are an any salary cap problem...Word out of Charlotte is they are looking for a scoring wing...that's an team that could really use a player like that, if Atlanta lose there small forward that another team, the Bulls, Celtics, Dallas , just a few team that come across my mind, that could potentially put a better offer on the table if Rudy Gay Is on the block.....

Realistically, at this point in his career, Rudy Gay isn't the sure fire all star talent he was seen as 3 or 4 years ago.

Two teams now want him gone in as many years. We have seen him fail as a first option on two teams, we have seen the failure in Sac as a second option. How many teams are really looking for a third option, with attitude problems (possibly, seemingly).

A salary dump is what Sac should expect. Players like Gay aren't a dime a dozen, more like a quarter.

Iggy is a facilitator, elite defender, and allows Steph to play a Ray Allen role on offense. Rudy Gay would provide none of those things.

He'd simply be a consistent scoring option that can create his own shot and keep opposing defenses honest. He also allows James to move to the guard position or power forward position, interchangeably, without giving up size. We would have immense roster/lineup flexibility with Rudy on the team.

Starting together doesn't mean playing together for extended minutes. But Gay is a legit threat from behind the arc (.345 career average).

Bingo: Gay is not Iggy. What he is insurance if Irving goes down or god forbid Lebron gets hurt. We need to have a guy off the bench who can spell Lebron big minutes or carry the scoring burden if he gets in foul trouble.

On other way to think about this is we'd be more capable of winning the title if one of the big 2 go down. Let's say Irving goes down against GS next year, we would still have a guy other then Lebron who the Warriors would have to respect allowing Shumpert, Smith, Delly to play their roles on offense. With the defense we're capable of playing with Mozgov, Shumpert, and TT, what this team lacked was a guy off who could score.

Gay is a player who just doent make his team better. Every team he has left started to play better basketball after his departure. In my opinion he is definition of a word chucker.

if somehow the cavs get gay, the bench would be deadly.
starters: ky/smith/lbj/love/mozgov
bench: delly/harris/shump/gay/tt
smallball: kyrie/shump/lbj/gay/love
big lineup: lbj/shump/gay/love/mozgov

Gay hasn't fired up less than 16 shots/game for an entire season since his rookie year. Not sure what he does for the idea that we need to get Love (and maybe Mozgov) more offensive opportunities unless he's willing to come off the bench and play a lot fewer minutes..

I cannot reiterate enough how important to the comedian in me getting Gay on this roster while keeping Love.

Look talent only takes you so far, but jokes are forever. :chuckle:

Add cousins and we could go with some incest jokes as well.

His number of shots isn't as relevant as his efficiency.

Rudy Gay put up a TS% of .556 last year with the Kings as their second option, which puts him in the top echelon with respect to scoring efficiency. Anytime a guy can score above .550 TS%, he should be scoring whenever the opportunity arises. (by comparison, Kevin put up a .562 TS% this past season)

Let's not forget he's been the primary option on majority of these teams.

Putting up 16 shots a night, is hardly outrageous when you're the first, to second scoring option on your team.

And most of these teams he was the best scoring option, outside playing with Cousins.

Cousins averaged 18 a game, so its not like he was trying to "out duel" him either.

As long as you're not a volume shooting at the expense of the team.

The guy is shooting 45% for his career, that's hardly an outcry.

I think the draft last night solidified that we have a trade in hand. Don't know if it's for Gay, but there is 0 chance any of those kids play for the Cavs next year.

Man, I just don't agree with this at all. He played 35 mins a game and put up 16 shot attempts. Meanwhile Kevin Love put up 13 shots as a third option and many would argue that was not enough. Kyrie put up 17 as a second option with similar mpg. This doesn't really qualify him as a chucker by any stretch of the imagination. If you can add a guy that puts up 20+ points and has his type of size/ability to let Lebron rest then you simply have to do it, it's that simple. As a fourth option, he would be incredible.

I would be absolutely thrilled with either Gay or Wilson Chandler. Both have great size, versatility, and the capability to spell Lebron for much longer stretches which is becoming more and more important with each passing season.

I dont think infact highly doubt we have a deal in place. I am sure we are still trying to get the best possible player that is available, and that takes times.
Also, and this is something we may need to come terms with. There is a chance that we cant find a partner for the haywood contract and we just wave him. I sure hope that does not happen, but it is possible. Lastly, Christmas could be insurance for Andy and if we dont include him in a trade, he would have a legit chance of making the 15 man roster.

I'd take Rudy and hope for an turn back the clock Iggy moment when we need him most.

Imagine that. Gay is an incredible talent when a guy like LeBron James is in charge. We'd be maxing out Gay's potential and focus. This is a high reward type of move for a damn sure.

Hopefully that noise of Haywood/Bradley is just BS. Gay is a target we need to spell LeBron.
