Series # 33: Indians @ Tiggerz Jewly 27, 28 und 29

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah what the hell godfather, Ramirez is here for an eternity.

Literally the best player on the best value of a contract

Wow Kluber what happened man. 26 straight games of 3 runs or less and lately been getting hammered. Certainly no chance to win Cy Young this year amazing how Verlander has turned his career around in Houston.
Oh, Hank

Yonder with his third homer since the break. Matching or besting Santana in pretty much every major category, all while making less money.

Great pickup.
Not really buying this

Did you remember to filter out all statistics he accumulates against the AL Central before making the comparison?

In that 1st inning, he gave up 1 real hit and a flukey surprise drag bunt

Relax
His overarching point was dead on though

There's simply no way our 13 win pitcher with a top 10 ERA in the MLB could possibly win the Cy Young this year. No matter what run he puts on the rest of the season, unfortunately there is no chance

What's probably funniest about that statement is it was almost verbatim what was said last year when Chris Sale had it wrapped up in July.

Actually Kluber made a start last year on 7/29. At the end of that start he was 8-3 with an ERA of 2.9

On that same date Sale was 13-4 with a 2.37 ERA.

Then over his next 12 starts to finish the season he went 10-1 with a 1.42 ERA to win the award

You'd think people would get tired of being wrong on these absolute statements so often but most don't seem to mind

Fucking awesome pickup. I was never that big of a Santana fan. Even though he got on base a lot. I thought last year was a bit of a fluke year for him.

Much happier with Yonder.

Not going to sweat losing guys like that. Obviously we really want to try to keep Lindor and Ramirez. Not going to be easy given the money they'll demand when they hit the market.
It's pretty much a certainty we aren't keeping both. I'm more worried about being able to keep 1 which still is far from a certainty.

I'd rather keep Stinky P than Lindor and I think Stinky P is much more likely to stick around than Lindor. I think Lindor is going to extract every last dollar he can

What the hell happened to you in here?

He's still going to be just 31, and likely still fucking great when he's an UFA. And at that point, I highly doubt he takes a discount at that point in his career.

You can’t compare the “battery” situation. Wakefield was a knuckleball pitcher, and a lot of catchers have trouble with knuckleballers. Not sure where you get the idea that Perez is very well respected in the dugout? Respected for what? He not a great catcher anymore. He is slow and his hitting is garbage. Bauer is a very good pitcher and he would be fine with another catcher. It not a good trade off at this point IMO.

*sighs* He is having the worst year of his career, I can give you that, but if you look at some of his advanced numbers, he is still in the top 10 in good categories on defense. I mean the league average for RF/9 is 9.07 for a catcher and he is at 10.99. RF/G for the league is at 9.02 and he is at 10.11. I am not sure how you say a catcher is bad, when his advanced numbers still make him a top 10 defensive catcher when he is having a bad year overall. He is Bauer's battery mate and has been for the last year and what has Bauer's ERA been since he was his permanent battery mate, is like under 3. So maybe he is having a bad year, but no way in heck can you not say he isn't Bauer's battery mate. Gomes hasn't caught him since last year and since the permanent distinction, his ERA is under 3 and when he is catching we give up less than 4 runs a game. League average for a catcher is 4.40 so maybe I guess he is bad, when he is in the top tier of catchers.

@BimboColesHair since you're here visiting, what are you doing with our OF involving the deadline? CF is a black hole if you ask me. Raj isn't an everyday player, Zimmer, Naquin, Lonnie, you know the story, and Allen doesn't look ready.

We won't be able to keep him past his current FA date, so its likely he will get traded in the last year of his contract depending on the situation we have at hand. IF we are contenders then we will keep him til his contract ends and get a rookie pick compensation or we will trade him (if not a contender) to a team who needs him and replace him via a top 10 prospect in their farm system. We wont be trading him likely before 2022 more than likely unless we feel we need to.

I think Ramirez is the better player too. Would love to keep them both long-term, but I think its unrealistic though.

Lindor is going to command too much for us, unfortunately.

As much as it will suck, I don't think it cripples us though. As long we maintain our pitching, which shouldn't be a problem. You got a good front office with a proven track record of finding guys.

The Indians are still set up to be relevant for years to come.

These guys really don't get enough credit for setting us up so well like this. It's pretty amazing what a good front office can do for your team now and going forward.

Will Mejia get called up to replace Perez?
