So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stories will always contradict if you don't distinguish good sources of information from bad ones. I wasn't terribly surprised by Griffin leaving, and without another job lined up at that. The hints were always there since last offseason, the evidence is still present. That's said, the loss for the franchise is about to be overblown in the national media... the same group of storytellers who claimed LeBron was the real GM anyway. Enjoy sifting the sand for Golden nuggets, everyone. Lots of bullshit out there.

This is my reason I felt this would create the Joker of the NBA at will panic and get everyone in an uproar when in reality it could have all been in the works and LeBron is LeBron with his tweet. He made it sound like he was they only one who liked him... BS. Also PR move because Griff abd word was he was not going to make any huge move and well others had other plans and this tells me that one of George or Butler, I digress I am getting off the point and that is this is all stupid overblown non news at this point. However this is making for a fun off season as the speculation sets in.

So then, what IS the true picture?

LeBron runs the team like every said he was or he is gone. No to be honest it is simple, this is being twisted as a bad thing when Griff has better options out there for him. For some reason this triggered the whole LeBron vs Gilbert shit and god knows why. This is a business and this was a business move and Bron knows it. So much stirring of the pot it is bound to explode here soon leaving us with a new and proven all-star I would think.

It could be that Griffin wanted more control (GM and President) with the salary to match. That is the simplest explanation.

I just don't trust anything Sam The Bullshit Whisperer says, he archives "sources" and regurgitates anything and everything.

Overblown is an understatement, LeBron stans are already formulating plans for him in a Spurs or Clippers uniform. What a bizarre turn of event from a dynasty in the making to a franchise destroying event. The hot takes have been extra

I'll leave it at this, because I've basically already said it: I'd love to have a hands off owner who let's basketball people do their thing. That has never been a position Dan Gilbert wanted to take. Guess what? Owning a professional sports franchise isn't an elected position. Browns fans shamed the Lerner family into selling, but that is an exception not the norm. A pro sports franchise will always be the plaything of a billionaire, they decide how to play with it.

I agree as The Bullshit Whisperer likes to use anything as almost fact he does not even realize he just helps stir the pot. I like the guy but he takes from his sources and touts them. This is over blown because of LeBron and the Tweet could also be an attack or a joke wishing him luck since LeBron knew him. It is a ongoing joke at my work "I do not care what they thought thanks for your hard work" when a good part of the company leaves.

By the way thanks to Griff for coming in and getting or helping us to our first title. He was a part anymore than anyone so I wish him the best. I feel he needs to GM a team like the Pelicans as I feel he could make them a threat.

Or this could be the best thing that has ever happened to the team. I think the Raptors are a perfect example of doing the same thing for too long and we don't really know what caused Gilbert to want Griffin out of there. I think he did everything he could with the assets available. But I do think he misused the assets and went for the easier deal while giving up the most assets possible. We have one trade where we won without a doubt. The rest, we kind of got what we needed to get done but a lot of it seemed frantic. Though if everyone who had a part in the negatives of last season, I think we need to get rid of Lue. HEY, maybe Griffin wanted to hire another coach and this is why they butted heads. Or the other way around...

Actually i agree. While i dislike they timing (In the midst of supossedly deep Trade talks of getting either PG or Butler) i think this is a good thing. It was getting clearer and clearer that Griff wanted us to be the Suns 2.0 .. This wont work against GSW. Also as great as Kev has been for us if we can get PG or Butler we have to do it. To pass on either of them because you had to include Love would be stupid.

We need a new direction. More Defense.. toughness.. dicipline. I have no Idea if Chauncey and whoever works under him would do that but at least it will be different

A comment I saw on reddit about Billups, That I totally agree with.

"The guy is no fucking GM. He was a good basketball player and that's it. So far what I've seen from him as an analyst on tv shows nothing of being a good GM. He thinks like a fucking NBA casual. Might as well hire a random from r/NBA.

First you have Ty Lue, who thanks to RJ we now know he doesn't run practices or give players roles at all. He just tells them to "fit in". Now we have another former pg as a possible GM. NBA players don't make the best front office executives!! Outside of guys like Jerry West and Danny Ainge.. the others have sucked. Jerry West has a great basketball mind and great great eye for talent. Billups sounds dumb when he's commentating on games. He brings nothing new that a person watching basketball could see."

Ty Lue and Billups are also best friends, this is starting to look like a total shit show, LeBron is so fucking out of here, I'm predicting he will wear a Spurs uniform in 2019 if we're not getting PG13 & winning this thing.

But I have to say part of this is his fault, he wanted Blatt fired just so we'll hire a shitty coach who took us from 3rd ranked defense to 24th by letting the inmates run the asylum and doing whatever the fuck they want while having zero practices for an entire year (per RJ), a coach that didn't implement any type of motion team offense, Its LeBron and Kyrie ISO monarchy basketball, simple 6th grade stuff with no creativity or any resemblance of modern NBA team basketball, not to talk about what the fuck hes done to our defense.

Getting his buddies paid instead of demanding the heart and soul of the team (Delly) getting signed for fucking peanuts. Griffin made some big mistakes, LeBron made some mistakes too and valued his friendships over logic, and now we have a limited roster with one dimensional overrated players getting paid way too much, and no bench, but worst of all we have one of the worst coaches in the NBA on the roster.

agree with most, and even with all that said, if it wasn't for the warriors getting so lucky (hitting on draft picks, steph getting hurt, KD being a bitch) and bubbling up into literally one of the best teams in NBA history the cavs would be in prime position to win titles for the next few years

still makes me laugh how perfectly everything worked out to throw a wrench into lebron's plans post miami. welp, at least he got that one

I still believe if Kyrie & Love weren't injured in 2015 the warriors would stay ringless to this day. KD will stay in OKC. Blatt would still coach the team and Delly would still bless us with his presence. Now we have a weak coach and a rookie gm pulling the strings during a time when experience is needed.

Ok sure. The average fan knows more about basketball than Billups and his 15 second soundbites on tightly scripted NBA pregame, halftime, and postgame programming are fully representative of his views on basketball.

Playing Derrick Williams instead of RJ for 12-20 mph against GS would have made SO MUCH difference.

He also won't be hiring a competent GM to help steer the ship.

And Griffin didn't start his career for a decade as a media intern/PR guy for the Suns for 4 seasons before another stretch of years as a video cut up guy.

And for the record, since you also seem to hate Lue, it was Griffin who was pushing to hire Lue as head coach in 2014 before Gilbert got all intrigued by Blatt. It was also Griffins call 100% to fire Blatt in the first place and replace him with Lue.

And surely it's 100% Lues fault the defense dropped off and not at all the decisions to let go of Delly and Moz

Did I miss anything?

Griffin is an idiot if he ever thought Ty Lue could be a great nba coach that all I gotta say about that, If most people had to chose between Blatt and Lue its not even close, yes Lue is buddy buddy with the players and has relationships with them but thats not a good thing.

I don't want to get into the GS series so I'll make it short, Ty Lue strategy of trying to beat GS at their own game playing 12 points higher in pace chucking quick 3's and playing right into their hands, compared to the last 2 seasons finals (92 pace), leaving our players exhausted and completely ineffective and confused on defense was my biggest issue.

I really didn't care about Derrick Wiliams getting minutes, Ty Lue was awful on so many levels in the finals from scheme, strategy, pace, LeBron not running the 2nd unit without Deron, not even trying different lineups like LeBron at center or trying to actually adjust anything, he basically did the same thing over and over and over again for 5 games, the only game we've won because we shot more 3's than them, good job Ty really, genius.

Also Lue was sold as a defensive coach right? I don't care if you lose Draymond Green from your roster, it takes someone real special if your'e able to drop from 3rd ranked defense to 24th ranked defense, just because he lost Delly and Moz lol, Popovich has the corpses of Ginobily/Parker/Lee & Gasol to work with and he still manages to be top 3 in defense every time, defense is coaching not roster.

One surefire sign of amateur coaches is they always want to play ambitiously high powered offense at a fast paced tempo every play with no real sense of tactical detail and little regard for personnel.

On defense, we don't have the personnel to be a good defense. With front court personnel that no team respects to make defensive plays our interior defense is a joke. You're not stopping a talented offense with Kevin Love and Tristan thompson. Straight line drives to the basket is all you need to break down our D
