Team Fortress 2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Valve servers are notoriously glitchy in the server browser. Sometimes nothing pops up for me, then a minute later when I search again twenty Valve servers pop up. The problem is especially prevalent with Virginia servers.

Also, are we steam friends? If not, we should be. I play TF2 all the time.
Yeah, I tend to stick only to Virginia servers for the ping, which is part of the problem. I've also heard reducing the frequency of server queries can help with the glitchiness, but that's also painfully slow.

I see your steam profile above, I'll add you when I get home to my computer.

Nothing more fun in this game than going huntsman sniper and having my buddy be my pocket vaccinator medic. Damn near unstoppable. I got accused of hacking multiple times today. :chuckle:

Also, no better feeling than getting accused of hacking when you're not. One of the guys on the other team even joined my team and started a vote to kick me.

@Jack Brickman a lot of TF players are hyping up Overwatch after playing the Beta. You gonna be trying it out too?

I'll see what people say about it when it comes out. From what I've read, it sounds similar but some of what I've read said it was pretty slow, as in combat is fine but it takes forever to walk to it.

TF2 doesn't really suffer from that issue because of a variety of factors, be it class mobility (scouts are fast, soldiers and demos can rocket/sticky jump, engineers can build teleporters) or spawn rooms that move forward as you capture additional objectives. It's just a very smartly designed game that constantly keeps you in the action. Maybe Overwatch has stuff like that, but it didn't sound like it from the previews I read covering the beta.

I guess the main thing for me is that it's going to have to be a really goddamn good game to pull me away from TF2. I'm boring when it comes to multi-player shooters. I like to find one, get good at it, and play it forever. It certainly doesn't hurt that Valve still fucking updates TF2.

Hmm, I haven't noticed this as a problem at all. Respawns need to be balanced with either death timers or walk backs so that death actually means something. The death timer seems about 8 seconds. The walk back varies, but it hasn't looked overly long to me. Most characters have mobility abilities (jumps, flying, sprints, blink, wall climb, grappling hook, etc.) and one of them can place teleporters for the team. Spawn areas also move forward as you capture objectives.

Ah, okay. Sounds really similar to TF2, then. I was just going by the previews I've read based on the beta, a few of which mentioned that getting to combat could be somewhat of a chore. They did say the game was a ton of fun once you got there, though.
