Texans' Record Watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You also know he bench his QBs constantly that season and the majority of that team was drafted by the Previous regime? Hoyer started 9 games, Weeden like 2 and TJ Yates started 4 and Hoyer left to be a backup the next season? He has poorly managed his QBs the last few seasons and I would think he will do it again! Savage will be benched for a bad quarter and Watson will be put in. Hopkins wants Savage to be playing and my money is on O'Brien regardless is going to have Watson starting and stay starting even if he is playing poorly and not benching him after a bad quarter like he has to everyone else the last few years
How does that have anything to do with this statement
He was supposed to have an amazing WR group but no matter who he put in at QB they didn't produce.
Different topics.

I see the opening... I see it...
I almost tagged you, but I knew you'd find it.

That said Hoyer is a substantially better QB than Osweiler.

Looking forward to the local S.F. Target being overrun with cheap Hoyer jerseys in about a month. I might have to get @AZ_ size and address and ship him one, on me.

I would think this is an argument for him being a good coach. That he can manage to win so many close games with Shit For Brains as his QB

Historically, games decided by 7 points or less are coinflips.

And while the Texans have been good in those games with BoB as coach, there is generally no correlation between good and bad coaches.

Also, the Texans are well overdue to regress to the mean.

Ya'll jinxed this just like the Bills watch last year.

Texans 11-5

BoB has got them to the playoffs with garbage QBs for two years.

Not sure they can overcome the losses this year though. That's a mediocre team on paper.

They lost a lot of depth. Simon, no Wolfork, Bouye gone, others. And, the dirty secret about their defense is that their outside rushers outside of Mercilius is really average. Even Clowney, who had his "breakout" last year did it as a 5T. Now that Watt is back, he goes back to OLB where he simply is not as good.

We will see, but the Texans have a lot of signs of regression. How steep of a regression is the question. 8-8 looks likely,IMO

I have a hard time giving credit to BoB for getting them to the playoffs, I think that dumpster fire of a division deserves most of the credit for those playoff berths

Maybe, back to back appearances is tough in any division in this league.

Especially with at best sub par quarterback talent.

Agreed. And Texans have gone 5-1 in the division the last two years, so they're doing something right.

At this point I'm not ready to give BoB much credit, positive or negative. That division has just been too poor for me to confidently extract any conclusions. That, and I haven't watched a lot of AFC South football. The Browns keep my quota of barely watchable NFL action pretty full

Yeah that aura will wear off quickly if they blow it this season or Watson crashes.

That said, if they can get functional production out of Savage and/or Watson, that defense is going to win them some games.

Not getting my hopes up, anything below 15 is a win for the value of the trade IMO.

I am not with sportscoach here, but I can agree that the Texans aren't a surefire bet to win 8-9 games.

Their injuries are hurting them right now. Their QB's are both skeptical (one is trash and one is a rookie).

Their division isn't exactly a cakewalk anymore. JAX is getting better. Bortles is still an INT machine, but their DEF has improved a ton and their draft was pretty nice. Dede Westbrook is looking nice to pair with ARob, Hurns, and Lee. Drafted Cam Robinson to throw on the line right away to help out Fournette. IND is always a crapshoot. Luck stay healthy? Gore keep beating the shit out of father time? TENN is going to be good this year. My pick for division winners.

Their schedule? Not exactly a cakewalk, either:

Jags - Win (split)
Bengals - Loss
Pats - Loss
Titans - Loss
Chiefs - Win?
Browns - Win
(bye)
Seahawks - Loss
Colts - Loss (split)
Rams - Win
Cardinals - Loss
Ravens - ?
Titans - Loss
49ers - Win
Jags - Loss (split)
Steelers - Loss
Colts - Win (split)

I could only see 4 "guaranteed" wins on their schedule. I have them splitting with the Jags/Colts so those could be labeled as toss-ups.

All in all, we just need to be happy that the Texans aren't a team right now that are almost guaranteed to win 9+ and make the playoffs. As it stands right now, we are in a good position to land one for sure Top 10, and possibly even two.

Let's keep our fingers crossed:fingersx:

Who is injured outside of Fuller? Did Duane Brown ever show up to camp? @SixPACK

Who is injured outside of Fuller? Did Duane Brown ever show up to camp? @SixPACK

Fuller - Out most likely whole year.
White (WR) - Out indefinitely w/groin injury. Had a stellar camp.
Brown - Not injured but has not reported. They actually signed some other guy to add depth b/c of it.
Watt - Of course, not injured. But comes back this week in live action for the first time in almost a year.
John Simon, Demps, Bouye - Lost all to FA

So basically only one more injury. But Savage/Watson needs as many weapons as possible to keep their great DEF off the field. No matter how great their DEF is, if they are on the field the majority of the game, they will wear out.

Watt - Of course, not injured. But comes back this week in live action for the first time in almost a year.
Yeah but JJ Watt is one bad motherfucker

He is going to go right back to eating human beings before the game as sacrifices and ending QBs seasons during the game

I'm not counting on him being anything other than the very best defensive player in the NFL... again
