The 2014 NFL Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Whether you liked it or not doesn't matter. The guy came off as a total joke. The most impressive athlete in sports is the guy who makes the most important play of the game and acts like he's been there before. This guy looked like he's been deprived of attention and was trying to scream his way into the spotlight.

I went from drooling all over him and that play to laughing at what a pathetic, attention-starved human he is.

That reporter would cut his head off if she was allowed. Pathetic.
Looking forward to the SB tho.

Erin Andrews interviewed me after the game and I yelled what was obvious: If you put a subpar player across from a great one, most of the time you’re going to get one result. As far as Crabtree being a top-20 NFL receiver, you’d have a hard time making that argument to me. There are a lot of receivers playing good ball out there, and Josh Gordon needed 14 games to produce almost double what Crabtree can do in a full season. And Gordon had Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer and Jason Campbell playing quarterback.

Rest of what he wrote here

Just ridiculous that people are calling him a thug. A Stanford grad with a clean record is a thug because he trash talked a guy he was jawing back and forth with in the most important game of his career right after he made the play against said receiver to seal the game. The guy is 24 years old and just had one of the biggest moments of his life; he deserves to sound off.

Also, it's football. A lot of people that are saying Sherman is classless are the ones saying the game is being wussified because of the safety changes. It's an ultra competitive and aggressive game, which is one of the main reasons we watch the game. All of a sudden we are in an uproar because Sherman because he called Crabtree mediocre? He plays the game the right way and doesn't play dirty. Sorry if he hurt Crabtree's feelings.

What annoys me is the constant self-promotion. I don't really care if he talked shit about Crabtree or whatever.

Dude NEEDS to say he's the best. He's always on TV whining about lack of respect, claiming he is the best corner in the game, that he's better at life than Skip Bayless, etc.

Steve Smith's "ice up son" to Talib was great trash-talk. Sherman sounded dumb.

I was going to bring up Steve Smith in here and see if people don't like him either. I'll admit that Steve Smith doesn't pull the "I'm the best" card like Sherman did, but they are both very similar in the sense that they don't shy away from calling out individuals. Is Steve Smith a thug after his comments about Janoris Jenkins? What about when he called Fred Smoot out earlier this season on ESPN?

I despise Steve because he's a Panther. But dude is a much more advanced trash talker than Sherman :chuckles:

Smith is in his 30s.

Sherman is 25, he'll get there.

You'd have a hard time making an argument that what Smith said to Talib was any different.

I love trash talking. It makes great rivalries and great competition.

But you have to back it up.

Sherman did. Crabtree didn't.

Crabtree is and always will be a little bitch. Never liked anything about him. Don't get the hype. Also, that dude talks so much shit when it doesn't matter. Sherman called him out and shut him up.

If people are upset about the interviews, how about the reporters don't run right over 30 seconds after the play is over when he is even more hyped and try talking to him.

People are pissed about Sherman saying he is the best and blah blah blah. Well, how about some WR shut him the hell up then? Just because he keeps saying it doesn't mean he isn't.

Just curious as to what the reaction would be if in the same situation Sherman was wearing brown and orange

I would hope it would be the same all the way around. You either agree or disagree with him, no matter the team.

I don't mind the trash talk. The "I'm the best" thing is what bugs me. Childish stuff imo.

Sherman apologized for what he said. So either he had some regrets or someone in management didn't like what he said. And he may not be a thug but he sure made himself seem like one. Just came off as selfish and immature and I'm glad he realizes it. I don't have a problem with trash talk at all but there's a time and a place.

There is a time and a place, usually it's right after you backed up your trash talk and led your team to the Super Bowl.

His non-apology apology is fine, given the public pressure people are undeservedly putting on him for these comments. He didn't take a word back about Crabtree.

Much ado about nothing, some of the vitriol he's getting seems to be more about race than anything else.
