The 2017 B1G Championship | #8 Ohio State vs. #4 Wisconsin | December 2nd, 2017 @ 8 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The human element will recognize Bama as Bama and Ohio State getting slaughtered last year to the same expected match up. Yes, it's a different year, but I think there are biases that will linger.

Ohio State carries 3 wins better than anything Bama offers and a conference title. Bama carries one less defeat and the legacy of being the current king of the decade.

I think a valid point could be made about not holding the OU loss against OSU because they are going to be in the playoffs, but that dreadful Iowa showing is very difficult to excuse.

I think the committee will see Bama as a safer choice.

If the Clemson result last year has any bearing on this year, bring back the BCS.

Just absolutely terrible reasoning.

I hope people say this stuff out loud, or the committee hears this stuff out loud, if they actually fall in line with your thinking.

"Bama should get in because of last years OSU vs Clemson loss. Bama should get in because of OSUs loss to Iowa. Bama should get in because of previous years success."

Maybe eventually, after saying stuff like that enough, they'll realize. Bama themselves accomplished absolutely nothing this year.

Whole reason for the committee was to remove bias with a group. Thankfully, I don't think they look at this the way you just did, as a whole.

There is no way to quantify that Alabama is better than Ohio State. It would entirely be based on the committee's opinion. But I'm sure they will take into account what Barrett looked like against Clemson last year, what Barrett looked like tonight, what he looks like just about every time he plays a real defense with next level players on it. And when they realize that Ohio State won't have a new QB for the bowl game, Alabama looks a lot more tempting.

Yeah...it'd be a tough pill to swallow but theoretically, imagine us beating Oklahoma this year, injuring Mayfield to the point he s done for the year, and then Oklahoma sucks the rest of the year.

A legit out of conference match-up against a good team, is undone by injury to the QB. If we are being fair, FSU is at least top 25 with Francois......so the 6-6 FSU squad is really a terrible break for them.
Shit happens. OSU was hurt in 2015 by our schedule being shit. You don't get credit for scheduling a name. Virginia Tech was a name. That game was scheduled 10 years before it was played. They fucking sucked in 2015. Shit happens.

ESPN stumping hard for SEC.....more of a CNN style. Looks a bit more subjective but def guiding the conversation to why Bama deserves it.

Everyone's bottom line is at risk here (Fox in bed with Big 10). ESPN/CBS in bed with SEC. ESPN would love OSU getting left out for Bama. They hated the contract we signed with Fox.....

That's true. But the team that Alabama crushed in week one is not the same team that lost 6 games. You would be right if they lost Francois before the season.

Just saying...if we are talking so much about the "human element".

Is it that crazy to think that beating a top 5 team with a QB who had knee surgery less than a week ago won't resonate with some voters a bit, especially with regards to the bolded?

I mean, our guys Gus and Joel hammered that shit home tonight big time. Sure it's on their minds as well.

FSU would have been bad, with or without Francois.

They lost a bunch of players all over, and their coach had his feet out of the door the entire year...oh, and in the limited sample we saw of them with Francois, they looked like ass.

He didn't look any different to me than he has for four years. Are you suggesting the knee surgery is why he missed wide open receivers down the field all night long? As though that wasn't an issue his whole career?

We can't sit here and project the ENTIRE FSU season based on a QB getting hurt. That's just completely asinine. Their QB getting hurt doesn't change the fact that offensive line is horrendous, either.

Fuuuuuck this game was nuts so many points left on the field but we wiiiiin

Leaving Indy now.

No.

I'm saying maybe the committee will overlook how he played tonight because of the surgery. You said they will take into account how JT looked tonight.

I think it's fair to say they are thinking about it that aspect of our game...it was a monster story line in our game.

All they need is a reason. A win over FSU with their QB is not going to be looked at the same as a win over a typical 6-6 Power Five school.

Ok, well I'm guessing they're having the same conversation we are.

"How much of the fact that Barrett sucked tonight was due to his knee surgery?"

"Well, he's sucked for years. Does it really make a difference?"

If they try to say that's a top 25 worthy win then this system is broken as fuck.
