Dream Team 4: Golden State Warriors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has a message for fans that have been complaining about the 2017 playoffs being boring: “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.”

Some NBA fans have called this playoff season boring and unwatchable because there are two teams that seem to be light years ahead of the rest. Both the Warriors and the Cavaliers enter their next games (Game 4 for Golden State and Game 3 for Cleveland) with perfect postseason records. On Friday night, the Cavaliers smothered the Boston Celtics, winning by 44 points on the road. And with the exception of Game 1 against the Spurs, which saw San Antonio star Kawhi Leonard suffer an ankle sprain that has kept him out for the last twogames, the Warriors have yet to be seriously pushed in the playoffs.

But Durant says that that is just how the cookie crumbles. After pouring in a game-high 33 points to spark the Warriors to a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals, Durant was asked about his response to critics who have questioned the entertainment value of a postseason that has featured 22 games decided by 15 or more points.

“If I was up 40 points […] you know, you have to give them credit for being up 40 points,” Durant said of the Cavaliers’ Friday night performance in Boston. “They went out there and dominated. That’s what you want to do every time you step on the court, so I’m sure they’re excited about it. But the fans, they always want to see a tight game; they want to see a buzzer beater every game. But, you know, it’s not like that sometimes. You have your years where you have great playoff series, [where there are] four or five Game 7s, and then you have what you see this playoffs.”

Dominance by a few teams for years and years in a row is not new to the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers won three consecutive championships in the early 2000s. The Chicago Bulls won six championships in eight years in the 1990s, and the Celtics won eight (!) rings in a row in the ‘60s, although the league was just a little different back then. When fans’ favorite teams are doing the dominating, they usually don’t seem to mind watching very much. But when fans are watching their teams get blown out, it isn’t so fun anymore.

As Durant pointed out, players are there to compete. Yes, having entertaining games is nice, but that’s isn’t the players’ main focus. At the end of the day, their job is about winning.

“As players, you want to go out there and win by as much as possible,” Durant said. “And play as great as you can. Whatever happens with the score happens. So relay that to the ans who are upset. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it."

LeBron circa 2010-2011 Heat.

After the "decision"? He kept foot in his mouth and kept talking out of his ass. Saying he wanted teams contracted, doing the "NOT 1" thing with Wade, Bosh, etc, etc, etc.

The difference between LeBron and Durant though was...LeBron got completely owned in the finals and had to learn to grow the fuck up, be a leader, etc.

The situations are different though, as has been said. IMO? OKC coulda competed for titles with him and Westbrook. LeBron wasn't gonna win anything here his first go around.

I don't understand why you guys talk about "choke" or "choking".
This Cavs team is amazing.
Instead of discussing the emotional state of golden states stars, Cavs should talk about the match-ups.
TT is an unstoppable force, no one on GSW will stop this monster, Love and TT needs to control the rebounds on both sides of the court, I've noticed no one is talking about his contract anymore. I'd even claim TT is highly under-payed after fixing his free-throw percentage.(Thank you MasterK)
Putting Lebron on Green is the 2nd key for me, other than TT.
I'm kind of sad that Jefferson isn't getting minutes, but that's it.

I'd give the Cavs more than 50% to win it all if TT continues to have this monster games and Lebron focuses on Green.
Can't stop KD, just let him get his 30/40 points and let Curry do his turnovers.

I'd just enjoy the finals, Enjoy Lebron and his journey, Enjoy KD's shooting motion(AMAZING) and mostly enjoy TTs hustle and fight.
Dennis Rodman is one of my beloved players of all time, fight for every possession.
TT is my new aged Rodman!

I'm gonna start stalking every post peon disagrees with and like it just to counter his asinine trolling. It wouldn't bother me if he actually took the time to discuss why he disagrees, but chances are he can't formulate it and has to simplify it to a simple button press.

I actually asked him for an explanation once (not for that post) and he told me I'm not entitled to an explanation and that's some weak minded millennial shit.

I didnt realize they are 27-1 dating back to regular season. Damn.

Has there ever been an organization filled with this many shit talkers? I hope we sweep the Warriors to just set them into a tailspin. That would be fucking beautiful.

We dont need to Sweep them.. Beat them in 6 Would be more than enough to totally put them in shock. If they have no injury or Suspension to blame what are they gonna say? Those Arrogant Brats are not wired to finally understand that heart, resillience, composure and playing simply harder is actually a huge part to a Championship Team. They will blame something.. maybe they even make up a injury... or its ALL because of Kerr..

Even the journalists that cover the team are arrogant as hell. This guy sounds like a fanboy rather than a professional writer.

http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/05/...ng-to-sweep-the-finals-just-because-they-can/

This is fanboyism at its best... but sadly its really wide spread right now.. GSW worship is at a new level..

I cant believe i am saying this but i agree with Skip Bayless on something... he said yesterday that he gives the Cavs a great shot.. and part of it is because GSW has not been tested.. he said the last time they really where tested was the Christmas game..

I think our guys losing to BOS and having to figure out the basically new Team without IT on the fly means we are better prepared. GSW could be in shock in they lose Game 1.. they are not used anymore to the feeling of losing.. we experienced that after Game 3 too. And we are a much tougher more resillient Team than them.

I really think even more than last year the whole Arrogance and them buying into their own Hype will be their downfall. They will face a Cavs Team that is not scared of them and will really rough them up. A Team that never quits and that is actually capable of going onto their own 30-5 Runs..

As Lebron said.. we dont have a perfect Roster but our guys cover great for each others weaknesses.. This awareness could be key.. The Warriors are so full of themselves they propably really believe they are perfect.. Let them..

The look on all their faces when we are up 15-25 in Game 1 and Lebron unlike Kahwi is not taken out for them... will be all the better.
