Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just met the dude at Town Hall on W 25th.

Has a table with Kareem Hunt. How fucking chill.

Ask him if he’s pissed we drafted Greedy because deep down he knows we have tough decisions to make down the road

Also, I will go on record as saying Baker is a sexy man.

It isn't looks, though he is above average, it is the fact that he is 100% comfortable with who he is and rocks at being him.

That is actually a rare quality as most guys are fucking insecure as all shit. The more they posture, the weaker they seem. Terrible turn-off. No one likes posers.

Discuss.

As a hot confident guy, I agree. You guys need to be more like us

I woke up early today , nothing to do on a Sunday, till 8 o'clock tonight till the finals...and somehow stumbled across the Gruden Qb camp with Brett Farve . Literally sat here and watched the whole thing. Watching it you cant help but to think how similiar Baker and Brett are, even their personal Makeup and their IQ. Their instincts and play style, their confidence bordering on cocky but still just having that leadership mentality. They are the same person. Even their start of their career coming in after an injury and just taking off from there.

Theres parts in this like Brett explaining making a throw and Ty Detmer coming up to him saying "how the hell and why the hell did you make that throw" and Brett just saying because I could. Brett saying "yea, theres more polished quarterbacks, but if I'm starting a team and want to win, I'm taking me. "

If you're bored, watch. Really scary how similiar the two are. The throws are earie similiar.

Edit: funny tidbit. The ESPN scroller at the bottom of the video in 2016 is talking about Josh Gordon suspended form the browns :chuckle:

A lot of similarities and I do think Favre is the absolute best comp - but I think Baker is smarter with the ball. Favre took a lot of stupid chances at bad times. I don’t see that in Mayfield - not yet anyway.

Yes.

Hypothetical scenario...

Favre misses his 3rd read running wide open because he squeezes a laser to his first read through triple coverage.

In the film room, Favre would grin and take great pride in that throw.

Same scenario, Baker would be angry at himself for failing to progress to the open receiver and would learn from it.

Favre was enamored with making the impossible throw. Baker is more enamored with making the right throw.

I can back Lee up on this. I too live in the Phoenix area (Chandler) and have worn Browns’ jerseys for the last several years. The comments I got changed from, “oh, Browns fan, huh? Sorry about your luck,” to “man, you guys are putting together quite a team. Looks like you guys finally got your QB. Baker looks like the real deal.”

I’ve yet to have a single friend, or coworker, tell me that they don’t like Mayfield’s personality or game.

I didn't like the Rivers comparison, I have met some people out here involved in football in different ways since Phoenix is such a professional work out town with so many people involved in sports out here. Example, my buddy rented his house out to Shazier and 3 other Steelers who were in town to work out together with a couple of pros. (this was before the tragic injury)

Anyway, I wear my Browns shirts around, talk to my friends, start a convo at a bar, and it all is different This isn't some talented asshole like Rivers that some people like or hate. Across the board people love Baker. They love the Fire, the no excuse, the accuracy, arm talent.

It really feels different and I live in a town full of people that are involved in sports professionally and most are not browns fans...heck most are football fans first, and then fans of teams 2nd.

And Phoenix is the perfect city for this experiment because over half the people out here are fans of other teams because we went from 1.5 million in 1990 to over 4.5 million today. Just a bunch of fans of teams from all over.

Not sure how Phoenix supports 4 teams honestly.
