Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel one of the biggest reasons our running game was so effective was how good our interior OL was. I'm also worried about how far Kitchens is willing to remove himself from the offense in order to focus on being a head coach and letting Monken do his job.

I hope everything works out perfectly. But there are things to be aware of or concerned about.
I’m embarrassed to admit but that whole bit slipped my mind. Losing Zeitler is going to hurt the ability to control how stacked the box needs to be.

Chubb is really good against a stacked box, but, that’s less valuable if defenses feel comfortable getting the same result with five guys in the box compared to six or seven.

In fairness, the running game and entire offensive line looked like shit until Freddie took over.

So I don't think we can point and say "It's only because we had good interior players" when those interior players also weren't as successful early in the year.

I'm also not sure you know what the word lampoon means. I think you wanted to use the word torpedo? Maybe your mind then went to harpoon, and settled on lampoon?

Isnt lampoon the obsession of Scotland to stick their penis's inside a lamb's vagina?

Did I use that word right?

Then I definitely used it wrong.

Has making fun of the Scottish been a thing post 17th century?

I don’t like talking about the guy but Colin Cowherd probably legitimately was prepared to have a segment on “Baker Mayfield threatens to beat up 50 elementary school children at his camp. Immaturity issues. You don’t see Tom Brady doing that...”

And then Tom Brady responded thinking he could take our more and he had to wad it up and scrap it.

Well, now he has a segment on how Baker Mayfield's immaturity is infecting the league!

"And now even a luminary, a man I've climaxed to many times, is aping this cringing childish child clash. If Tom Brady can so easily be swayed by the seductions of Baker's malevolence, what hope does the rest of the NFL have?"

To be fair, Brady has a very childish sense of humor himself which is one reason i have a hard time hating him. I mean after his buddy Mark Wahlberg called him and described the scene from Ted 2 he wanted Tom to act in where a teddy bear tries to milk brady by breaking into his house, Brady couldn't stop laughing.

Basically Brady has our sense of humor, and apparently Baker does too. I dont get why Cowherd has zero sense of humor, but he doesn't. Yes he will spin this negatively, but who cares, its all an act for ratings any ways.

One thing that I think is way, way overplayed is that the best window a FQB will ever have is when he’s on his rookie deal

Not only do I think it’s overplayed, I think it’s just incorrect.

Yeah, that is when he will be at his cheapest in his career, but it ignores the fact that even marginal upgrades in qb play go a huge way in terms of winning

most franchise QBs undergo more than just moderate improvements after their 26/27 year old seasons.

So yeah, Baker won’t ever be that cheap again, but he also very likely won’t ever be that bad (relative to his own standards, meaning he’s likely to continue to improve) again until he’s at the end of his career

And since QB is disproportionately by far and away the most important and impactful position in football, I think the improvement in QB play wins out over the additional roster flexibility due to having him more cost controlled

Pretty good breakdown of Baker Mayfield last year and what he needs to improve on next year. Albeit, perhaps a bit over-critical (that is somewhat the point), this guy provides a lot of film work and his rationale has a lot of research behind it - I did find myself agreeing with most of his points.

Although, we do know that Baker is capable of making pre-snap adjustments, I do agree that with more time in the offense, those moments will become more common.
