The Boston Celtics Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If any team over the next 4 years if going to beat us in the East to go to the NBA Finals, it's going to be this team. They are going to be title contenders by this time next year. Book it. Too many assets and an amazing head coach. Anyone else agree?

They have an amazing coach no doubt - one of the best in the league. And they do have assets. But they only become legitimate title contenders if they use those assets to get an elite player (or three). Coaching can only get you so far in a seven game series - talent is still the single most important factor when it comes to winning in the NBA.

I'm not a fan of their overly physical style of play that they use against elite teams like ours. I'm even less of a fan of refs letting them get away with it. That's how they get teams "on their level" even without any elite stars...by roughing them up a bit.

They are already 3rd seed in the East as of right now. Maybe title contenders in a year is a bit much but I stand by my first sentence.

They have picks #4, #17, #23 (as of now) as well as five 2nd round picks. If they somehow luck out and get Ben Simmons, watch out.

If any team beats us to go to the Finals in the next 4 seasons, it will be Toronto if they keep Derozan or the Bulls if they get their shit together...rookies don't get you to the Finals or put you over the hump. Only way Boston beats us in the next 4 years, barring significant Cavs roster changes, is if they trade some of those picks for a star...even then, its still a ? at best in the next 4.

Reading through this thread was both hilarious and incredibly depressing at the same time.

Bad trip down memory lane :(

I always think things like this are really interesting. I didn't see the Warriors getting this good for instance. This is very hard to predict. I don't see the talent on their team today. Hard to imagine who had that much upside.

Does Toronto have that upside? I dunno. I think the pistons are most likely to make the leap of anyone due to coaching and talent.
