The Finances and Debt Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Trying to figure out course of action. Buying a one br vs two, rental income vs mortgage, renting vs air bnb
Where do you live again? I would have to believe if you looked at comps in your area, renting would yield a higher return. Sure air bnb could have higher upside but honestly how many nights do you think you could sell monthly.

San Diego and I'm not finding that to be the case. Can't seem to cover mortgage

If you can get that many nights out of your place. Go for it.
No way to know

Think it may be better to rent here and buy property in Cleveland and rent it out. Rent to own ratio here is like 30 and it's 12 out there

Has anyone built a house? Successes? Horror stories? Recommendations?

Pretty sure it's cheaper to buy

Old man has flipped like 20 at this point

I mean it’s cheaper to buy a $30k house than it is to build a $380k house. It’s all relative...

OK I couldn't find anything after searching and rereading through this thread...

I know there was a thread talking about saving plans for children and all the differences/benefits. Maybe it was in a political thread?

Anyone remember this thread? @The Oi @Lee

They say you never get used to a commute. It is aways a significant hindrance on your life. Something to look into I suppose but that is turning 85 weeks of my life over the next 30 years into time exclusively spent driving to work

self driving cars gets your time back.

I build a few of these

The downside is the fall over easy. Anything larger I've left up to the professionals.

Actual recommendations is to make double sure you have the full price before you commit. After having multiple houses built, I've found there are always extras.
