The Game (2017) | #9 Ohio State @ TTUN | November 25th, 2017 @ High Noon

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dan Mullen. I’ll see myself out now.

Good luck next week.
In the 8 years prior to Mullen, MSU had won 4 or fewer games 7 out of the 8 years. Mullen won 5 his first year, then has been .500 or better every year since. They averaged 3.6 wins in 8 years before he arrived, and they've averaged 7.5 since he came. And he knows the SEC and it's recruiting better than Harbaugh would. Stories have already surfaced that MSU is going to significantly raise his and his assistants pay this year to fend off bigger programs this off-season.

I don't see how Harbaugh gets credit for resurrecting Stanford but Mullen is a joke for winning at a much harder place to win.

He’s not a joke....but if a .450 SEC record is some monumental achievement now, Harbaugh is even lower on this hypothetical coaching list than even you guys are intimating. He might be like the 30th best coaching candidate in the country.

I think you are really overstating what they lose. On defense, they will be loaded on the DL. Hurst is a really good player but they can easily replace his production.

Linebacker has been the position they have recruited probably the best of any. I suspect they’ll just be plug and play there.

Offensive line is a bigger question mark. They are going to be starting some inexperienced guys there but it will be all guys Harbaugh has recruited.

Michigan produces a depth chart of 24 guys, as they list some offensive players who split time. Assuming Speight is healthy and can play, Michigan will return 18 of those 24 starters....11 of those 18 are underclassmen.

Their roster will be as good as it has been under Harbaugh next season. Questions on who steps in at OL but their defense should be even better with an injection of athleticism at LB. That is why I stated it is put up or shut up next year. In year 4, you better have a QB if you’re an offensive coach...at that point, they are all your guys. If not, you have failed miserably IMO.

But Speight sucks, Peters looked average at best, and McCaffrey prob won't be ready.

It's a mess....

I thought you were out? And still with the passive aggressive?

A sampling of your argument about Harbaugh in your own words

"I was more pointing out the uneven nature of having to turn over a program that hasn’t been good for an extended period of time."

"So you don’t think recruiting is easier if you’re taking over a program that is relevant the entire time a kid is in grade school and high school? Vs trying to sell tradition that a kid maybe hasn’t even seen? The fact that you are trying to say you are unaware of how being good for a long stretch before a coach got there would make a job easier is a little.....interesting."

"Michigan had won 20 games in the 3 years prior to his arrival and there’s seriously people in this thread questioning his coaching abilities?"

"If we are talking just put a resume up there with no context, then sure, he’s not a top tier coach....but that is a pretty lazy argument."

"If you think following a coach who spent 10 years winning 80% of his games and following two coaches who spent 10 years driving the program in to the ground are the same thing, then we are all wasting our time here"

Your argument is clear. Michigan was a mess for a while. I get it. But Mississippi St was 10x the mess Michigan was. If Harbaugh gets credit for inheriting a blue blood program in a mess, Mullen gets the same "context" argument for taking over a much worse program, doesn't he?

Yeah...I'd be surprised if their offense is much better at all next year. They'd be lucky to go 10-2.

I remember seeing that interception that sealed it, I was like..."What in the actual fuck?" and the Michigan fans I was next to were just like...what just happened ...

Awful truly awful QB play. Buckeyes definitely "lucked" out in that regard, but the truth is if your QB sucks you don't deserve to win because your team isn't good without a QB. The better team won ...

See ya'll in Indy!

Dantonio, kinda douchey

"Life's about how you handle disappointments," Dantonio said, via Matt Wenzel from MLive. "I would not say going to the Holiday Bowl is a big disappointment. I'm excited about it, very excited about the opportunity." Dantonio continued by saying, "I just look at it as an opportunity to play in the Holiday Bowl right now. The records are what they are. I'll just continue to concentrate on beating Michigan, let things sort of sort out."

Harbaugh won't be outdouched, though

My thoughts

1) If it's not a NY6 bowl it's just another bowl. Outback, Holiday, who gives a fuck?
2) Why is Harbaugh talking shit to anyone, let alone a rival given his record against rivals?

I agree, but Michigan got a better bowl despite MSU having a better record and winning H2H, and I think he was asked if that bothered him.

Whose got it better than us?!

I don't view it as a better bowl. I didn't even know it was considered "better" until I saw all this whining from MSU. Pretty embarrassing, honestly. To me, there's the prestigious bowls that bring in big money for the conference (NY6) and then there's the field. Nobody is going to be bragging about a Holiday or a Outback bowl either way. For MSU it's more about winning a 10th game in a season in which they beat Michigan (again) and Penn State. That's a good season for them. For Michigan it's more about avoiding a 5th loss (yikes). That's what they should be focused on; not worrying about whether the bowl they're playing in is 3rd tier vs 4th tier. But that's just like my opinion, man.

Outback is viewed as a slightly better bowl from a prestige standpoint, but it’s all whatever at the end of the day. Bowls are about matchups and what fan bases travel well. The Holiday Bowl with MSU playing Washington State (two ranked teams) looks a lot better to me than the Outback with Michigan and South Carolina. Not to mention the Holiday is on a primetime slot while the Outback is on ESPN2 at noon on New Years Day when everyone is hungover... while also sharing the same time slot as NY6 games.
