Don't forget how they covered up what was in that note on the table, claiming it was 'distance calculations'. I'm pretty sure that Arabic letters can look like numbers to the uninitiated...
 
Six minutes isn't long enough for a SWAT unit to respond.

Regular police are not likely to engage with someone who they think has automatic weapons simply because they don't stand a good chance at stopping the guy. They cordon off the area and call SWAT. That is the normal SOP.

However, it is up to the cops to respond immediately if they wanted. They evidently elected not to.

Having military training, if unarmed, what would you do if you were caught in a mass shooting situation?

Throw me a couple different scenarios that might be realistic for a person to run into.

With the way things are these days, I can’t get this out of the back of my mind.

Maybe the terrorists/lone wolves are winning. :dejection:

In order: Run, hide, fight.

Running is the best option if able. Always run if you can. Use cover and you run.

If you can hide the same.

You only fight if you are cornered. Fight with anything you can find and get pissed that some guy is trying to kill you.

What about that Vegas scenario where they had no idea where the bullets were coming from? Do you curl up in a fetal position on the ground?

Where the fuck would you run?

Run until you stop seeing bullets hitting the ground. Moreover, a moving target is quite difficult to hit; particularly from a distance.

Or you get in-doors away from windows.

CNN had an article saying he was trying to buy Tracer rounds. While those are intended to improve accuracy (still a rough issue at that range on select fire, let alone bump-fire), they also would have illuminated the shooter's direction / position.

Sometimes you can see muzzle flash, in this case, he'd withdrawn into his room, I guess suppressing the muzzle flash (I'm not sure how this worked, I would think LOS is LOS).

Shitty situation for sure.
