The Golden State Warriors Era

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. My fear is that Stevens is going to outcoach some people and somehow get Boston there even though they're the fourth most talented team in the East. Boston does not have the horses to beat GS.

I just remind myself that Stevens has not actually really overperformed in the playoffs despite his godlike coaching rep.

What do you mean by "overperform?" He never had a superstar, only one all-star, and made it to the ECF twice. Last year, with only Horford as an all-star, they took the GOAT to 7 games.

They're not worried about Houston. Houston has the jinx that is Chris Paul's spring health on its roster.

They are no factor.

Come on, our team outside of Lebron sucked last year. Back when we had Kyrie we thrashed them every year.

In general the Celtics in the playoffs have beaten teams they were supposed to beat, and not pulled off anything surprising. They had an easy path to the ECF from finishing first in a weak eastern conference. Their most impressive playoff win was last year against the Sixers, hardly a world-beating opponent then.

And the Celtics had...what, exactly? In 2016-17, we were the defending world champions, and had pretty much that entire squad returning intact. We had indisputably the best player in the world, plus two other All-Stars. They had one all-star, who admittedly was also Second Team All-NBA. Of course, he barely played because he had a torn hip that required surgery, so they had none. They didn't even belong on the same floor as our guys, and they still managed to win one game in Cleveland during that series.

In 2017-18, you may have a point, because they'd added Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, who gave them two legitimate...oh wait. Hayward missed the entire season, and Irving missed the entire playoffs. Oops. So they had Al-freaking-Horford as their only All-Star. They had no business even making it to the Conference Finals, except Stevens coached his ass off and got a rookie and a second year guy to play way over their heads. But to you, that Al-Horford led team underachieved because they only took the Cavs -- who had the best damn player in the world - to seven games.

In general the Celtics in the playoffs have beaten teams they were supposed to beat, and not pulled off anything surprising.

They beat every single team they played except the LeBron James led Cavaliers - made it to the conference finals both years. The comparative garbage they had in 2016-17 in beating us a game in Cleveland, and especially taking us to seven games last year without Kyrie or Hayward...isn't that overperforming on their talent?

Lebron was way better than anyone on their squad last year, but after Lebron I would argue the four best players on the floor belonged to the Celtics -- Horford, Tatum, Brown, Rozier -- then I'm not so sure that Marcus Morris and Marcus Smart might not have been better than Love in that series, who kind of sucked and was out the last two games of the series with a concussion. Celtics for sure had six of the top eight players in that series.

Okay, sure - it was a big fucking upset that the Cavs and LBJ made the Finals over Al Horford and Friends.

This guy....

Tonight the Splash brothers were 21 of 56 from the field, 8 of 29 from 3.

Lost to the Magic and Heat in consecutive nights.

Their road to another ring might not be so easy this year.

At least for next season... we can call it a wrap. All that trash they threw at Chris Paul, they got it back in spades.
It's gonna be nice not having to see these guys hanging around in the playoffs.

It will be real interesting what they do in 2 weeks. I think they have to offer Durant the supermax and give Klay the 5 year max. I think they will hope one or both will go somewhere else or ask for shorter years. It's so much risk for an organization to offer so much money to a player with an ACL tear and another with an Achilles tear. Add to that a year ago Draymond looked washed up. Without Klay and Durant that puts that much wear and tear on Draymond, just as he will come up for a new contract.

Then Livingston and Iggy have talked about retirement. Quinn Cook will be put into a larger role, he would seen as a backup to target to give a starting job in a year in free agency. They will have to pay him to keep him. Seeing what Rozier gets this summer will be a good comp for potentially what Cook could get.

All set up now for the Lakers to get AD and a few other good players and rule the West now. I bet Lebron is doing cartwheels after what happened over these last few days. Glad to see the demise of the Warriors but watching the next superteam form in LA isnt much better.

Why are we assuming guys are going to the Lakers now?

You can just see how things are lining up for them to get AD. None of these other teams are going to give up stars when he is saying he wont resign there.

And Rich Paul more or less said publicly that they want the Lakers. Said that if Boston gives the best offer, it's a rental. Compared the Lakers to (lol) J-Lo. It's pretty much being rigged at this point. I don't think that superteam lasts long given LeBron's age, but ....
