The Jarvis Landry Thread: Bless 'Em

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
People who watch Landry knew he was going to be a huge pickup for us. But I’ll admit, he may have a bigger impact than even I thought.

I don't think anyone doubted he'd be a big contributor, as he was a big contributor in Miami every year. But to act as if people were dumb for thinking he wasn't a deep threat is ridiculous. He's never shown an ability to be a consistent deep threat in his career, and based on his combine numbers he might be the worst athlete in the NFL at his position (looked it up and he literally has 0th percentile agility and burst). Those numbers combined with his career production thus far don't really point to him being a deep threat, but hey, Antonio Brown's also a pretty shit athlete by NFL standards and he's the best WR in the league, so sometimes you just don't know.

Not gonna complain if he turns into Antonio Brown, though.

Yeah definitely. I guess my point was its really gravy uf he turns into a deep threat. Guy is a really good player even without that aspect in his game.

Landry reminds me of Anquan Boldin when he was still young. A defensive back might think he has these guys covered, but they have elite body control and will win every 50/50 ball.

Accidentally clicked the 1st page of this thread and read that Duke Johnson is a better WR. :chuckle:

Landry remains being an ginormous addition to the Cleveland Browns. Seems to be the vocal leader, on field leader, off the field leader we desperately need. Players will look to him, players outside may want to join him, he will bring us good things.

In his defense, he's never been given the opportunity to show that he's a consistent deep threat. Otherwise, I agree.

There was someone on this board who was a pretty big debbie downer about the Landry pickup. I think that person (honestly can't remember who) has tucked that opinion away for now.

I really see a lot of Jerry Rice in his game. He shields defenders off and is quick more than fast and he runs great routes with incredible hands.

I was one, if he suddenly exposes a part if his game that we didn't see the first four years, great! I'm happy to admit I'm wrong. In the meantime I'm going to continue saying this guy got 160 targets (3rd in the NFL) and couldn't reach 1,000 yards receiving last season.

That outside route was nice, but I still expect Landry to be a high volume, low output guy when it’s all said and done which will be fine assuming Gordon comes back.

20 catches for 278 yards. Good for 13.9 yards per catch. If he turns in more 3 game stretches with 278 yards, he'll easily eclipse 1,000 yards.
