Ariza is a great defender

He's been good. I don't think I'd ever have called him "great". He's never made an all-defensive team in his career.

He's a nice player who's had a key role on multiple playoff teams and even some championship contenders.

Cedi is already a better scorer and is much higher on the outside shooting curve at this point in his career than Ariza was. Smart money is on him becoming the better player long term.

If Trevor Ariza can carve out a career as a perennial starter, there's no reason Osman can't do the same at minimum.

Cedi is going to play a long career and will start on multiple playoff teams.

When Delly got hurt, Cedi should have been give the duties of backup PG. If he could have played the last 20 games of the season playing alot at PG, it would have help him tighten up his handles and setting guys up in the half court. I think it would have given him a good taste of it so he could really work on it in the summer.

Drew's subs make little sense. You are right on the money.

Anyone think he hit a wall? Sophomore wall? Not moving as easily as he did a little while ago right now. He's played every opportunity for the past year.

He looks tired overall. After he caught that long pass and lay up it in he looked worn out. That's when injuries are more likely to occur. I'd rest him next game at the minimum.
He's a good player for us but I don't think he'll ever be a near all star let alone legit all star.

While the skillsets are different, I could see him being a Tayshaun Prince type Glue Guy on a contending team. Does a lot of things well, wont hurt you by any means.

I think he has already ended the season in his mind.

It seems like there is subtle tank going on. Shutting down Zizic in favor of TT who has been bad, and worse on defense is one. Playing Kriss a lot has been another. Cedi may not be down for the tank.

He looks worn down and worn out to me though. More lazy possessions than I have seen from him before. Reaching defense and just letting guys go by him.

Kinda emphasizes how amazing what Collin is doing right now looking fresh as a daisy and playing big minutes every night and scoring at will as a rookie. Looks to me like Cedi is the one hitting the rookie wall right now.

Cedi is the kind of guy who thrived on LeBron's and Love's court spacing. If Love stays around for next season, Cedi will also look a lot better again.

I think Ariza has had a fine NBA career, Cedi peaking at 12/5/3 with solid defensive play and a pretty reliable corner 3 would be a decent win for his career I think.. plus if he could stick for 15 years??

He's averaging 13/5/3 this year,,,my hope is that he is so young he can continue to improve and peak out at
16-18ppg,,5-7rpg and maybe 4 or 5 assists a game...I hope he can come close to these numbers even if he never matches them

I see that average as mostly hollow as it comes attached to a 19 win team with no clear cut shot tacker (I said no clear cut shot taker, Jordan!). Once paired with good players, you'd have to think Osman's usage would naturally go down. I want him to contribute positively in that scenario (where he'd likely be the 4th or 5th option, spotting up in the corner, defending, etc..).. I know it's blasphemous to speak of Cedi as anything but at least a 2nd banana on a title team in these parts, but that's not where I see his role on a playoff team being (which is kind of what your preferred peak would imply)

I think he gets more opportunities on a good team. He knows where to be on the floor to be helpful and can leak out with the best of them. He knows how to cut etc. On a better defensive team he could gamble and prob come up with more steals. If his 3 point shot continues to improve he could be damn good. If his slashing game improves, he will be dangerous.

He still has upside as he has shown he can really add wrinkles to his game at the advanced age of 23

I hope you're right but my take is that when you're as bad as he is at the three, there's only one way to go. The problem is that he'll most likely just go from awful to nearly real bad. You'd of thought with Korver and Frye on the team he might of picked up something but no, he's still a bricklayer.
And he can slash to a degree but it's always followed up with a weak layup that misses half the time instead of throwing it down.
I'm not hating the guy, and hope he succeeds. Time will tell.

Cedi has been shooting over 40% from 3 since January 23rd, which is around where most of us think the light came on and the game slowed down for him.

I think Cedi needs to work on his handles over the off-season and hopefully the team will let him run the offense more next year.
