Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's what I'm seeing.

Been waking up at 3am every night. Now I'm up till 3am every night

And I'm taking 11 sleeping pills a night

Fwiw, I had great sleep before I started taking Lamotrigine. Now I can;t sleep at all and i'm off pills. Cymbalta+Lamotrigine must have played with my hormones.

Sleeping pills? do you think I should be taking sleeping pills? don't you become dependant to the point that you can no longer sleep without taking them?

What are you going to do?

Stopping the lamotrigine immediately.

Im still bipolar as fuck and I can't sleep now. So I ruminate for an extra 5 hours a night.

You can't mess with your sleep. It's essential. I don't like depending on pills for it and I should ween off.

Meditation is a really good tool for it. Use it if you can before medding up

How does Meditation helps you stay asleep? I mean I have no problems falling asleep, it's just that I wake up after an hour. Dunno, I always hated meditation anyways.

i'm trying Melatonin now, but it makes me even more groggy during the day. I slept better tonight, but I also put my phone far away.. I think the phone is a problem by itself.

Do you have an alternative to Lamotrigine? it's good that you are responsive.. I was on it for more than 2 years if I remember correctly before stopping despite having tons of issues from the get go.

Anyone who has experience with Lamotrigine, how has sleep been?

My gf has been increasingly nocturnal since she finished ramping up on Lamotrigine a week or so ago. She's been trying to use melatonin to get to sleep at a regular time, but it's like using a garden hose on a house fire...she just can't fall asleep until 4-5am pretty much no matter what.

Fucking shit man. Psychiatrists are fucking idiots i'm telling you. He prescribed that to me and when I told him I couldn't sleep and to counter that he prescribed Seroquel as an off-label use for sleep. What a fucking idiot.
I mean, do they even know what they are doing?

Ironic I just pulled this up

If you're on meds, I'd see if they are playing a role.

Otherwise, exercise more. Wear yourself out however you can.

When you wake up at night, don't let thoughts start. If you can turn off that part of your brain and keep it off (I use a meditation trick.. Trying to see visual patterns and then watch them develop into other patterns and shapes. Before you know it, you can hear anything and you're slipping back into sleep)

People respond differently to different things.

Doctors have different beliefs, have seen drugs do different things to different people. Side effects are typically uncommon (they should be at least, or they wouldn't get approved for market). Doctors could also place importance on some things over others (stable mood VS sleep)

Can you guys listen to podcasts or something stupid to fall asleep?

I listen to those Longmont Potion Castle prank calls and they're so inane and abusurd they shut my brain off and make me fall asleep in literally less than 1 minute regardless of what's happened during the day.

I love to listen to podcasts with headphones on.. you got something to recommend? doesn't have to be related to meditation.. anything interesting and relaxing even.

Something inane and absurd like I just mentioned. Prank calls have always worked for me because they make me stop thinking immediately.

But as far as podcasts:

Startalk with NDT
Freakonomics
In The Dark
Lore
Serial
The Art of Manliness
Joe Rogan Experience

I didn't mention any political ones because I don't want to get into it in here.
