The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Id call every season prior to 6 a slowburn for most part.
Everything has been slowburn comparatively to the current season :chuckle:

But some seasons have been slower/faster than others, I think

It's not unreasonable to think they got those from hardhome. Those chains could have been used to pull in boats.

This is a stretch to me.

is he bran anymore though?

I mean, he was Bran enough to want to recall Sansa's rape, talk about Arya's list, and tell Sansa that he needed to talk to Jon. Clearly he's still a human with priorities and the ability to talk to his family. He doesn't have to be the same person, but why obtain this huge swath of knowledge if you'e not going to do anything with it. Just seems conveniently lazy.

Well yea. This season is just silly in how fast it went.

Agreed. The total disregard for time/travel has been a disappointment. It's a different show now. That's what happens when you squeeze much of the critical plot line of the story into 14 episodes in order to add significance to spin-offs and save money on now-famous actors & actresses.

I couldnt be happier. Now people still have to wait for the books!!!!

Then I remembered the status of the next book and went full emo once more.

I don't know anyone would be happy.

He's clearly not going to finish.

At least the show will give you an ending. You'll never see one written by Martin.

That's the joke...

I mean anyone's free to turn off the TV man. Whether anyone else does shouldn't much matter to you.

Weren't you just ripping on all these same issues?

Ok so my defense of the wight hunt.

Ill assume that it was a stupid plan. I dont necessarily agree, but for sake of the argument, ill relent.

Who came up with the plan? Tyrion. Now, Lotta people asking why Tyrion has nothing but shitty ideas this season. Daenerys answered it. Because he has an understandable soft spot for his family, even his birch sister.

Thats not unusual or implausible at all. Emotional attachment regularly makes us do stupid or irrational things.

So he has advised against burning down the keep because he doesn't want to see the ruin of his house, despite all the shit hes been through with them.

And, the way he saw it, they had three options to deal with the news of Brand Raven.

Leave, go North, and allow Cersei to reconsider everything.

Destroy Cersei (and likely Jaime) quickly and then go North.

Or the wight hunt.

Now option 2 seems like the most reasonable if you arent a Lannister. But he is. So all of these bad ideas he's coming up with need to be seen in that light. No matter how poorly he speaks of them, he ultimately doesn't want to see them die.

Tyrion is a decent suspect for the betrayal of love at this point. Love for his family.

No difference than Robb marrying a piece of ass. It was an emotional decision. Or, if you prefer the book version, it was decision made out of a sense of duty. Either way, it wasn't the most rational, smartest decision possible. But it was complete defensible as more than just bad writing. It was human.

So is Tyrions desire to protect his family to the best he can.

Now, as for the stupid decision not being punished. Again, for arguments sake, ill allow that all poor decisions should be met with consequences, even though I don't necessarily agree.

We'll discuss it next week. Not gonna spoil by arguing from a position of knowledge.

But lets revisit this again in a week.

This is a stretch to me.

It's not a stretch though, they've shown they are semi intelligent beings with the rock throw from the hound. Idk how big north of the wall is, I'm assuming decent size. Do the timing might be skewed, but it's not a stretch to think they got the chains from a port at hardhome.
