I expect Arsenal to get trashed in Barca in the first leg and then make a spirited comeback in the second leg but lose out by away goals or just one goal. I am basing this on past history.

You're more than likely right.

You do have the crazy Gegenpress coach and his cool aura too .... Damn you, I wish we could have got Klopp.

Klopp has been tremendous so far, truth be told I'm already excited for next season when his new signings (Grujic, Matip) come over. I'd like Liverpool to get back to their winning ways and it all starts with Klopp. I'm kinda salty that as of right now, LFC isn't a very attractive club when it comes to luring world-class players but I'm hopeful it will turn around soon.

@kookoo Thought I would reply to you in here.

Yes, EPL is my favorite league (I support Everton), followed by the MLS (I support the LA Galaxy).

I don't really have a team, but I enjoy watching the bundesliga for its fast paced, attacking brand of footy.

Thoughts on Besic?

I don't support any EPL teams, mainly just follow games when Bosnian players play. The Bosnian national team is the majority of what I keep track of. He plays well for us and is a great young up and coming defensive force. Love the aggression he plays with. Curious as to what Everton fans think of him.

I like him but he's barely played for us partly because Gareth Barry has that position locked down, but he should be gone in the next year or so.

What do you think of Brendan Rodgers as a coach ? From getting close to winning the title with Suarez a few seasons ago to completely feeling overwhelmed and getting fired this season ? Do you think he has a good future ?

I think he'll do fine. I'd love for him to get another managerial gig in a smaller club then build up from there. I thought LFC losing Luis Suarez, coupled with Gerrard getting older contributed to him and the team's poor form. Losing is infectious and the first one to always go is the gaffer.

I'm not really sure if he had a hand in the transfers during his reign in LFC but the players they brought in just didn't work out. So yeah, maybe a smaller club and some help in terms of transfers and he'll be okay.

Looks like while Pep Guardiola is going to Man City, Chelsea will hire Antonio Conte! Any one who follows Serie-A care to shed more light on this guy? I am clueless about him.

Anyone watch ManU-Arsenal today? ManU are my boys, and even though are season has been awful, this game reflected the positives. We've found a lot of good young talent, such as Rashford, Lingaard, Martial, Memphis, Borthwick-Jackson, Vallera, etc.

Overall, though, it was a great match.

He's had great success as a manager. With that said, Juventus performed better last season after Conte resigned. He's been great for the Italian national team, at least considering the talent they have. He's very liberal with formations and likes having a lot of versatile midfielders who can play a variety of positions. I think it's a good hire for you guys.

I did watch an it was funny to see Arsenal get hammered by United's semi Under 21 team. This was Arsenal's best year to win hte league and seems like they are keeping up with the tradition of shooting themselves in the foot. I just dont see the point in them starting with Theo and having Giroud in the bench! I think they are resting him for the midweek game vs Tottenham but it is stupid to get ahead of themselves and not play their best side.

Van Gaal seems to be leaving a good squad behind for the next United Manager - he only wasted a few million quids doing so, But still it seems like some good will come out of this reign.

Arsenal's management has been awful for years. Wenger is a low-risk manager who would rather finish 3rd in the EPL for three straight years than winning it one year. On top of that they have low-IQ players that are injury prone. I like a few of their guys a lot: Welbeck, Walcott, Ozil, and Wilshere all are complete class. Additionally, Sanchez, Giroud, and Ramsey play very well. But the team is not a good fit together, and their manager is mediocre.

Btw, I have a friend who is a huge Serie A fan, and here is what he told me about Conte:

"
I think he's a good manager. Very authoritative, almost drill sergeant type. Very different than hiddink. Favored formation is 3-5-2 although he's used 4-1-4-1 and 4-4-2 before. He loves box to box midfielders.

The formation came back into vogue in the early 2010s with udinese and Napoli, who used it for counter attacking purposes In the 352 the two wide midfielders are really wing backs pushed forward, and they drop back to form a back five without the ball.

Conte started using it bc he thought to match 3 back formations he needed to use 3 at the back as well. Normally 3 cb is unpopular bc there's a mismatch against teams playing a lone striker. There's three cb guarding against just one striker, which seems like a waste. But defensive and counter attacking sides are more focused on clogging up the box, so that numbers game doesn't matter as much. In the epl when it's worked it's been bc English teams aren't used to playing against 3back, so it's a challenge"

So I hope that's helpful to you!

Besic signed a new 5.5 year deal today, so clearly they like him.

Yeah, I think the kid is only going to get better. Bit of a temper but his aggressiveness is great if they can rein it in.

I am still waiting to see if I get free tickets to the Crew opener.

Crossing the fingers.

Leicester City draws and you think the big 3 will catch up! Instead Arsenal, Spurs and City lose !!! What is with Arsenal? From losing to Barca to losing to Swansea! City have decided not to bother until Pep shows up. Spurs it seems are running out of steam.
