The Walking Dead

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Scott Wilson, who played the belovable Hershel, has passed away at age 76 after a bout with leukemia.

I’m borderline devastated.
I was devastated when the Govna slayed him, now this real life stuff is even worse.

In all honestly, the show hasn't been the same since Hershel's exit. Truly sad... I hope they have a nice highlight package and some behind the scenes stuff to honor him.

Easily one of the best characters on the show. He showed that old man wisdom was still valuable even in the apocalypse.

Season 9 premiere was a better episode than anything from the last two seasons in my opinion. New showrunner seems to be going back to the roots and she did a good job tonight.

It was better, but I'm permanently bugged by the decision to keep Negan alive. A writer - including Kirkman - obviously can write his story however he wishes. But viewers/readers don't have to accept it as plausible.

I had to suffer through him for weeks during Hard Knocks, and now I have to watch Cajuste fuck things up in this past episode?

So now we learn that Rick is never going to free Negan, even though viewers know that Negan is going to get out at some point. That makes Rick's decision to keep Negan alive all the more nonsensical. If he was doing it to fulfill Carl's vision of everyone eventually living in peace together, life imprisonment basically says the opposite. It basically says "I'm going to hold this grudge against you forever, even when you're an old man." How does that signify moving on from the past?

At this point, keeping a guy like Negan alive simply so you can (supposedly) torment the guy with stories about how wrong he was is not much different than the Governor keeping the heads of all his victims. It's just a kind of weird gloating.

Personally, I thought the best part of that whole arc in the comics was what Negan actually does once he gets out, which I don't think is what anyone would have expected.

I thought the episode was one the worst of the whole series. Slow, boring, uninspired and obvious writing, bad acting. Think I'm done with this show to be honest.

People are still watching this show????

It's too little too late, but I'll go against the sentiments here and say that the show quality is much better this season. There actually is a story that is building rationally, and people are behaving more or less the way real people behave.

Shame that Gimple didn't turn over the keys to Angela Kang years ago. Writing has been way better the first three episodes, but since Gimple already screwed things up by killing off Carl, losing Rick is probably still going to be the nail in the coffin for this show.

I'll give them a shot to see where they take it when Rick leaves the show. They're doing pretty well with some of the other characters, but Rick leaving will create a huge hole. And I think Maggie is leaving as well. That will be another hole, though obviously not as big. I just don't see anyone else capable of filling Rick's shoes, much less Rick's and Maggie's. I have a sneaking suspicion where they may go with it...if so, I won't be watching anymore. But we'll have to see.
