The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anybody else feel like there is just too much to do in Witcher 3?

Kind of a good problem to have though, you know? :chuckle:

Reminds me of Dragon Age: Origins and the TONS of side-quests that were available, many that were never marked on any map you had to read the various books scattered around the world to get clues...

Man that was a great game.

Seriously...anyone with a PC needs to check out the Shadow Tactics demo on Steam. Just a really great, fun game from a genre that hasn't really been seen in a while.

Steam Winter Sale starts Thursday.

2000

Also, the third season of Telltale's Walking Dead started today.

Be Witcher. Level 26. Casually ride horse into level 7 bandit camp. Walk in circles killing bandits in one hit from atop horse. Dismount and eat a ham sandwich.

I love video games.

Wait until you get to some of the Blood & Wine bandit strongholds. There are a couple of insanely tough ones.

I just got into Darkest Dungeon and holy hell is it fun but stressful. Amazing game along with FF15 and some Thumper is what I giving a go to.

Anybody else feel like there is just too much to do in Witcher 3? Like, the main quest has a super urgent, race against time, sort of feel to it but then they also give you 1000 side quests. I want to find Ciri, but I also want to do these quests before I'm way over-leveled for them. I always try to do every quest that I can in RPGs, but I now find myself over-leveled for everything that I'm doing. Currently at level 22, the quest I'm at in the main quest is a recommended level 19, and I'm still doing quests with recommended level of like 15 or less (and finding more of them at the same time).

Also, soooo many "?"s on the map that I don't know are even worth going to at my current level, like the "treasures" in the waters around Skellige that was just a bunch of garbage worse than what I already owned.

I put over 180 hours into that game and still haven't finished every sidequest or found every mystery location on the map. It's just... unreal how much there is to do in that game.

One of my favorite parts of the game. Hangman's oil. Fully upgraded quick swings, and just spinning and cutting through bandits like butter.

By the way, just to pimp it one more time, you should all be playing Shadow Tactics. This might end up being my GOTY. Phenomenally designed game.

Two of my favorite aspects so far:
1. On snow levels, you leave footprints that enemies will follow if they see. They disappear after a short amount of time, but you can use them to lure enemies into traps or ambushes, but they can also screw you over if you're not paying attention or mistime your movements.

2. I just played the game's first night level and I absolutely love the night mechanics. Areas between fires are very difficult for guards to see movement, but they can see movement around other fires even if they are somewhat far way. Also, some guards have torches that don't go out immediately if you take them out with a ranged weapon, so you have to run to their body to extinguish the torch or risk another enemy seeing the dead body easily from far away. Both really cool mechanics that force you to play differently.

What does everyone think of The Division? It's on sale right now, I think I'll give it a try.

It was fun when it came out, but the lack of endgame content drove away a lot of its players.

Supposedly they released a patch in October to correct that issue, but I've yet to play it.

I played the beta and enjoyed it well enough while playing with friends. Not enough that I wanted to buy it at sixty bucks, but it was fun. The enemies were all fucking bullet sponges, which didn't really make sense in an otherwise realistic game (seriously, it would take a dozen bullets to bring down an unarmored street thug). I'd say if you have friends to play it with it's probably worth it at sale price, but if you're playing alone I wouldn't do it.

Beat Witcher 3, amazing game. The ending chapter was awesome in so many different ways. I got what the internet says is the "best" ending. Got steam gift cards for Christmas, so i'm on to the expansions now.

I got a 20 dollar Steam code. Barely use Steam so any recommendations for great games? Steam sale going on right now.

I'm kind of interested in a survival game. I've done research and I think I'm between Stranded Deep and The Forest. I'm probably leaning towards The Forest because it is multiplayer and co-op. Ark Survival looks fun too but has mixed reviews.

But I'm open to any other ideas. Especially cheap fun games that are hidden gems. I Am Bread, Goat Simulator, Surgeon Simulator, Worms Revolution etc. are only 2-3 bucks a piece right now. Never played them, but they seem fun and good for the price. Gang Beasts looks fun.

I don't have a gaming computer either. Just a normal laptop. If that makes a difference for recommendations. Any opinions on any of these games and recommendations would be appreciated.

What kind of games do you like to play?

I haven't played I Am Bread. If you're going to get a Worms game, I'd get Armageddon. It's almost twenty years old and still the best entry in the series. Goat Simulator is dumb but fun for a while. Surgeon Simulator is the same. I'd find it hard to really recommend either of them but if they're dirt cheap and you just want to kill an hour or two dicking around they can both work.

As far as survival games go, I think Don't Starve is still my favorite. Great art style and really fun mechanics along with Steam workshop support. It also has co-op.
