The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Netflix will develop and produce a new show based on The Witcher Saga, the series of eight novels by Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the hugely popular CD Projekt Red RPG games.

Sapkowski - who does not profit from the game series - will serve as a creative consultant on the series. “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories," he explained in a press release, "staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing."

Tomas Baginski - who directed the intro videos for all three Witcher games as well as the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer, and who also previously announced as being the director of a movie version of The Witcher - will direct at least one episode per season.

It's not clear as yet what specific stories the series will follow. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown (The Expanse), said: “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

Platige Image, a Polish production and visual effects house will co-produce. Executive producers Baginski and Jarek Sawko emphasised that the books' subtexts will not be lost in the adaptation: "There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”

No release date, casting, or further directorial choices have been revealed at time of writing.

Kind of incorrect to say that the author doesn't profit from the game series. He did profit from it. He just sold the rights as a flat, one-time payment rather than receiving royalties. And that was an obvious fuck-up, but he's an old man who knows nothing about video games, so he probably didn't really consider the series might become so successful.

The lady friend went to Monterey with her friends so I went on all day gaming binge yesterday. Finished up deus ex: manning divided. I'm surprised I put in more hours than Arkham knight overall. I enjoyed batsman more honestly, but deus ex is a good game and it sucks that we seemingly won't get a lot of these plot threads tied up.

So now I just started rise of the tomb raider. I'm liking what I've played so far. It's making me wish I was able to play uncharted 4 with a keyboard and mouse and a higher framerate. I do like Nathan Drake, sully, and Sam more than Laura and her crew, but the gameplay is fun and the graphics are top shelf.

Anyone ever play Salt and Sanctuary? Bought this on a whim since it was on sale and it's damn good. Pretty much a direct merger of 2D Castlevania and Dark Souls. Gameplay is fun, extremely challenging, and the different builds that you can do make it really fun.

Idk how I got through all metal gear solids.

I picked up the newest one a year ago.. It's nerve wracking. I quit pretty quickly. It's just collecting dust and I know it's awesome.

I haven't but it looks awesome and I see that it's on sale. So i'm gong to go ahead and pick it up. Thanks for the recommendation.

My one recommendation would be to look up builds online before you start. The skill tree is pretty overwhelming to start out with, and you could easily end up with a sub-optimal character if you don't know what you're doing.

Elaborate. MGS5 is great.

I just don't want to die. It's terrifying.

When I left off I had been put on a horse and need to find something in a little village

I just finished Farpoint on PSVR and this game... it changes your life.

I can die happy now. I don't know what else there is to say except that it was the coolest gaming experience ever.

Wow.

I know next to nothing about this. I watched a 3 minute trailer about it. Can you go on?

Game built from the ground up for the PSVR and new AIM Controller.

The game itself is fine and I enjoyed the story but the level of immersion is 2nd to none. This was like picking up and playing video games for the first time.

You really have to just try it and play it for about 3 or 4 hours and experience it yourself. I've been pretty pleased with my PSVR but this is the first time I've felt like 2d gaming on a television screen is on its way out.

This game is a childhood dream come true.

The new zelda game even with its flawless ratings may just be underrated

It's a damn good game. I definitely have critiques that will hopefully be improved in the future games, but it is just such an enjoyable experience.

Beat Saints Row 4 yesterday. Great, funny game, but I was expecting there to be more. All of the "side quests" were just "do this collection of activities", and since I had already done 90% of them before being given the quests it felt so empty. 96% completion in 24 hours which I think shows how little there is to do compared to other sandbox games.
