The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Noice. Looking forward to it. Is Blood and Wine any good?
I thought it was the weakest story-wise out of the 3, but it's a good send off and there's a ton of nostalgia in it. I'd say not quite as good but still excellent.

As howler said, it's not as good as Hearts of Stone (from a narrative standpoint), but it's still high quality and it's fucking gorgeous. It's also a new map, so it's got a lot more to do.

Well, I got to toad boy and can't fucking beat him. Spent an hour grinding on him. Even turned the difficulty down all the way. Then I looked at my gear and realized I have like level 11 and level 18 shit at level 33. So I reloaded a previous save and am now hunting to upgrade my gear. Not sure if that was necessary or not, but that difficulty spike was intense. I beat the original game easily with heavily outdated gear.

The toad was one of the toughest boss fights in the entire game imo.

I played the entire game on the hardest difficulty, and those spiders were crazy hard too. I'm not sure if they patched them, but basically one hit of the web and they'd all pile on you and usually it was enough damage for a one hit kill.

Yeah, the spiders were probably the toughest generic enemy. One or two wasn't bad, but when you had a big group of them they could really fuck you up. I played on normal but had a similar experience.

That toad boss was fucking cheap, though.

And what made them so hard was that the one you were chasing would actively run away while everyone else would try to potshot you with webs. Amazing enemy AI design actually.

Ok so I upgraded some gear a little bit and respecced Sign build. Destroyed toadie on first try.

Should I be mindful and get my gear up to date completely before doing Blood and Wine? I heard it was hard and my gear is still mostly high 20s. Just killed the mage on the beach relatively easily.

So it’s been a while since I’ve played so I might have some of these details wrong...

During the main campaign, I fully upgraded a few of the Witcher armors. Bear and cat for sure. Maybe wolf too.

You can get new armors to upgrade in Blood and Wine, and I think maybe get new upgrades to the original armors in Hearts or Stone. Don’t remember.

In Blood and Wine, the material cost to fully upgrade the various armors got so high that I said fuck it and just used cheats to put the materials in my inventory to craft them. I had already played the game for over 120 hours at that point and just didn’t have the time to go find enough money to buy the materials I needed, and this is coming from someone who had a fuckton of money left over from the base game. You burn through that shit fast when you need to buy all the super expensive stuff required to build the new armors from Blood and Wine.

I did do all the quests to find the armor schematics and upgrade schematics, though. Just couldn’t be bothered grinding to make the money to upgrade, as it probably would have taken another ten plus hours at least. I also burnt through most of my money on the upgrades in Hearts of Stone and completing the full base game armors.

Could just focus on upgrading one set of armor.

Have you done the gwent quests yet? Because you get like 10,000 gold from winning that.

Missing out. Gwent is amazing. Collecting all those fucking cards was like my favorite part of the game. I just love how my Geralt is all about saving the world, but only after he plays 40,000 hands of cards. :chuckle:

Also, winning that gwent tournament in Novigrad is like the easiest way to make a shitload of money.

Okay, I mean is it something I can do without spending another 30 hours on this game? Because I hardly touched it during my playthrough and I'm guessing I have to go across some worldwide search for cards for my deck before I can win anything.

I also have to teach myself how to play because I don't remember it at all.
