The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I own This War of Mine but haven't played it yet. My buddy told me it was fantastic, though.

I got The Long Dark from a recent Humble Monthly, but also have yet to load it up. I think it's still early access, isn't it?

Q-Tip, if you haven't already, you should check out Valiant Hearts given your love of history. Not only is it one of the best narrative games I've ever played, but it looks great and it's fun. It really hits you in the feels, too.

Valiant Hearts looks good -- nice to have a puzzle game thrown in every once in a while, though my list of unplayed games is getting long as it is. But I'm sticking it on the wish list anyway.

Can someone who has owned a PS4 and played Witcher 3 give me some recommendations as to what other RPGs are similar to Witcher 3 on the PS4 (yes, I already know about Horizon, lol)?

Need recommendations for new games to get into on any console. I’m out of work the next three weeks recovering from surgery. Right now I’m working on Far Cry 5 on the PS4.

I had the same question earlier on after playing Witcher 3 and never really found a comparable game. It's almost a detriment that the game is so good. Someone recommended Dragon Age but it's not nearly as fun, in my opinion.

There’s really no comparison. Witcher 3 is in a class of its own.

Nothing is really going to be exactly like The Witcher 3; however, the game most similar in scope would probably be Skyrim -- but Skyrim: Special Edition on the PS4 .. I think that's the updated version and I think it allows mods. @Cratylus is the resident expert on Skyrim here.

The game that most reminds me of The Witcher would be Dragon Age: Origins; although the gameplay style is obviously quite different and the game is a bit older...

However, my personal recommendation would be Fallout 3, Fallout 3: New Vegas, and Fallout 4; all three I've played extensively (at least 600+ hours combined). My personal favorite of the bunch is New Vegas, but if you want something more modern, Fallout 4 would fit the bill. You can easily get 100+ hours of gameplay out of either New Vegas or Fallout 4...

Dragon Age: Origins is like if you took Witcher 3 and removed all of the interesting characters and replaced all the quests with boring, MMO-style fetch quests.

Edit: Thought we were talking about Inquisition, not Origins. Origins is great.

Really??

I thought DA:O had very compelling characters.. Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana .. in fact, I'd argue most of the characters and NPCs were some of the best in modern-RPGs all around. I also think the story and world of Dragon Age and The Wardens was simply amazing.

Honestly thought it was a phenomenal game... 10/10, easily.

Wait...my bad...I was describing Inquisition.

Origins was awesome. Dude was asking for PS4 games, though, so I just assumed you were talking about Inquisition.

Oh indeed.. Yeah, I was insanely disappointed in the later Dragon Age games, like.. WTF happened?

With that said, I honestly don't know if DA:O is on PS4? I played it on the Xbox 360, IIRC.

I don't think Origins is on the PS4, which is why I just assumed you were talking about Inquisition.

Has anyone played both Witcher 3 and Horizon? How do they stack against each other? Comparable?

I only played Witcher 3 but heard very good things about Horizon, if you're looking for a good open world game it sounds like a winner...it's probably like $25, why not just go for it? :chuckle:

edit: I think someone else mentioned it, but Assassin's Creed Origins is kind of like The Witcher 3, I guess.
