The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I saw that last night...

Someone who works for Bethesda leaked a few months ago that Fallout 76 is a clone of Rust and thus, a clone of DayZ.

If it's like DayZ, I'd be very disappointed.
It's a really good game concept, but nobody has really done it right yet. If they can keep the fun quests and have a bit of a story, and dropped a lot of the tedious stuff associated with survival games I think this could be great.

Apparently metal gear survive has it's moments... It's a really popular genre filled with a ton of low budget bug infested games.

I've always liked the idea of a Fallout MMO; and I always play Fallout NV/4 in survival mode; but I'm not sure about using DayZ as a model for gameplay.

Also, there's only one Vault 76; so is this going to be like Vault Dwellers vs Wastelanders? .. just not sure how the players would be set up -- particularly since Vault Dwellers wouldn't fight one another, they'd naturally be aligned; whereas Wastelanders absolutely would fight among themselves.

From the trailer, it looks like the game takes place 5-years after Reclamation Day in the vault, and you're somehow the Lone Wonderer again, without any other residents in the vault... Perhaps they migrated away, or to another vault with a GECK?

I dunno.. we'll see at E3 I suppose... I'm skeptical as fuck though.

The idea of a 'Fallout Online' just does nothing for me, unfortunately. That said I am curious as to what this is all about. I'm currently playing through Fallout 4, coincidentally. Really enjoying it.

Is anyone else just really craving Elder Scrolls 6, though? It's been like 7 years since Skyrim, and the game isn't even officially announced yet; we know it's in development, but haven't seen so much as a logo. I assume it's going to operate with a new engine. IF they don't reveal that thing by E3 2019 I'm going to be seriously disappointed.

Bethesda has another big project that might be at E3, too. I heard it's a sci-fi RPG in the vain of ES/Fallout. That would be cool.

Yes, I wanted another elder scrolls before fall out, so that makes sense that this isn't a traditional fallout game. It's also why im not upset that it's different. A survival pvp rpg in the fallout universe could be great.

Yep, Fallout 4 is great; absolutely love it.. But can't fucking wait for another Elder Scrolls...

I will say though that when Skyrim first came out, I was disappointed... It felt likely they continued the oversimplification from Morrowind into Oblivion (which I preferred) and then into Skyrim. I didn't feel like I could break the game as easily as I could in Oblivion, and definitely not how I could in Morrowind. Game also felt a lot more linear in character development, story, and gameplay.

But... with the amazing modding community, Skyrim is just an absolute joy to play, hours and hours on end.

So yeah definitely looking forward to it.

Ah, the Bethesda model. Release a mediocre game and then let the players make it good for you for free.

I'm actually excited that they're making a survival type Fallout. I thought they could have done this a long time ago. It's a really tricky niche to get into, but if done right, it could be huge. Have any other major developers got into open world survival?

I enjoyed DayZ when it was a mod, but it had way to many game breaking bugs. Then they released that turd sandwich standalone that killed the franchise. If Bethesda does this right, they could make something special.

E3 has a lot going for it this year, FF7 remake, and I think the game we're all looking forward too, Cyberpunk 2077. Cmon CD Projekt Red, get off your ass!

All I know is I swear I'm not buying any more games from them that run on that old ass engine ...

Metal gear Survive is the only game that comes to mind for AAA.

State of Decay 2 gives me heavy anxiety.

I just started playing Stardew Valley on the Switch. It's a pretty simple game but man is it addicting.

I've had Shadow Warrior 2 in my inventory for quite awhile now. I finally decided to dust it off and damn is the game fun. I really enjoyed the first game, but the second game is quite a bit different. It's like they took that game and mixed it with Diablo, and the results are glorious. It's right there with doom as far as fast paced high adrenaline action. Being able to play coop though and customize your build adds a layer of replay-ability though. The game is just glorious.

Here are more rumors for the new fall out. It sounds like it will be more like Borderlands than Rust or Day Z:
