The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Started playing Thronebreaker, that Witcher 3 spin-off that is basically an RPG where gwent is the combat. It's a lot of fun, although a bit frustrating at first because you basically have to re-learn everything about how gwent works. It's very different and a lot more complex than the Witcher 3 version. I found myself fucking up a lot early because I'd forget how certain mechanics worked or assume they worked like they did in W3.

I'm not really far enough yet to give much of an opinion, but it seems fun enough so far. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

I play WoW with a (now former) HotS pro, so we had a really good idea it was coming a bit earlier than everyone else when he started telling us that Blizzard had been radio silent literally since Blizzcon. They never put out a final date for roster changes in HGC or anything, so it was clear that it was up in the air, and as time went by, that it was probably getting canceled.

I never got into HGC like I do LCS and I never reallllly dedicated myself to playing HotS, so I don't feel it, but I can tell you it's always had a microscopic playerbase and following compared to Hearthstone and WoW, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
Yeah its a shame for sure. I really loved HGC a lot, watched every weekend, and was even working on some projects for an HGC-related streamer, so even beyond being a fan, I had a rooting interest in seeing it go forward.

The player base is small, but fiercely dedicated. And despite all of it, it was something like the 6th largest esport. It's no LoL or Counterstrike that's for sure, but it seems kind of outrageous that they couldn't turn 15-20k viewers 3 days every weekend and 70k+ viewers for mid season brawls and Blizzcon, and somehow not monetize it better. Just feels like they used it as a testing board for OWL, and then started to abandon it.

Fired up Dark Souls 3. Fuck this feels harder than Bloodborne so far.

It definitely helps to put some time between Witcher 3 and Thromebreaker. It helps to forget the mechanics of Gwent in Witcher 3.

I did, as it's probably been over a year since I've played Witcher 3. But I played so much fucking gwent in that game that the rules were just ingrained in my head.

A big problem with HOTS was it was looked down on by both player bases, LoL and Dota. It entered a market that was already extremely saturated and players had their brand loyalty already settled. HOTS was always "second rate" to the big two and was never given a fair chance. Like I said before, I actually really enjoyed HOTS even after playing a ton of LoL and the original Dota.

The same thing is happening with the Battle Royal market right now.

Just beat mgs5. Pacing was weird. Last ten missions were really quick.

Some of those missions were so hard. Man on fire was such a fucking bitch

AC Odyssey man. Really just a damn fun game.

Like I said, it's like someone made a shittier version of Witcher 3.

Which would normally be an insult. But a shittier version of one of the ten greatest games ever is still pretty good.

Busted out most of the first island in one sit down. Few hours felt like 45 minutes so it mustve been fun.

Think it’s honestly got me more interested than Red Dead at the moment.

I put in like 50 hours before I got burnt out on it. I'll call that an enjoyable game. Rare that I play a game anywhere close to that long.

This is such a bummer because it was so far from the truth.

The HOTS reddit had multiple people per week posting that they just discovered it after years of LoL/Dota and had no idea how much fun it was.

Too little, too late.

I bought Middle Earth: Shadow of War, because life is a series of open-world games and then you die.

I have it lying around and its really fun. Just buried beneath newer games sadly.
