While I loved Red Dead, it did have its issues.

As far as the controls and usability, I will say that I also had trouble with it in the same way that I had trouble with Grand Theft Auto 5.

To me, it felt like they took the GTA 5 engine and reskinned it to the Wild Wild West and made some changes to suit horse play vs car theft and driving.

I think the main issue is that Rockstar seems to love aiming for realistic physics even when it doesn't necessarily make the game more fun. GTA IV really suffered from that imo, which is why it was far and away the worst GTA game since GTA3. They pulled back a bit on the realism for V, which especially helped with the driving. Driving was such a fucking chore in IV because of the physics engine.

I don't mind the realism as much in Red Dead 2, because it does look great. Arthur's slow ass walk is really annoying, though, especially when you're indoors or in camp where you can't run.

Finally ran into the KKK in Red Dead earlier today. Was riding at night to drop off some pelts back at camp and saw fire in the woods nearby that turned out to be a burning cross and a KKK initiation ritual. I chilled and watched from the bushes until I got bored and then chucked a stick of dynamite right in the middle of them.

Killed about half of them outright (there were twelve or so), then whipped out the semi-auto shotgun and put a slug into the heads of the remaining. Left one alive as a warning to the rest, and also because he bolted and I didn't feel like chasing him down.

That was fun.

I have about 84% completion on Red Dead and are finding it hard to keep my attention and find things to do. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to find/accomplish? Or am i stuck with just riding around causing random mischief?

Yeah some of the challenges are just annoying. I've got the one where you have to kill five cougars with throwing knives. Fuck that.

At least that challenge is possible and I can concoct a method to get it done. The gambling ish is the most nonsensical thing I've ever seen in a video game.

Yeah, it's possible. Just a giant pain in the ass. I imagine poisoned throwing knives is the way to go, but I can assume I'll probably die a couple of times trying to get this one done.

By the way, I got the all white Arabian horse, which I understand is pretty much the best horse you can get until way late in the game. Fuck yeah.

True. Tho Witcher had it. And I know for a fact i didnt sniff the 120 hrs I put into that one.

You can buy the black Arabian for like $1000 and it's better.

According to the internet, the rose gray Arabian is the best horse, but it's not available to buy until the epilogue.

Also, the black isn't available for purchase until chapter four and I am in three. It's also only marginally better than the white one, especially when you factor in the white one is free and the black a cool grand.

I do love how even the fast travel in Red Dead is slow as fuck just like everything else.
