The witcher 3 thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just wondering... who do most people here prefer, Yen or Triss?

By the way, The Wither 3 has totally killed any chance I had of going back and finishing Inquisition. I just can't imagine going back to those mindless fetch quests after playing this game. It's so much deeper and more interesting.

It's also gonna be tough to go back to Bethesda games with their lifeless, immobile quest giving machines now.

Got an hour into Inquisition a while ago and then school got me busy. I'm about to go back to it over the summer but I wonder if it's even worth it, with Witcher 3 out and it being way better by all accounts. Shame, I already bought DA: I though I guess I may as well play it some more and see if i enjoy it.

I mean, it's not like it was a bad game, although I think awarding it with GotY awards was a little ridiculous. It's just that The Witcher 3 has just set the bar so high regarding RPG writing for quests.

Are there some fetch quests? Yeah. I actually just did two of them last night and tonight and hated them, especially the paltry rewards (see my cons above for a recount of one of them). But the majority of the quests feel real and meaningful, especially given the context of your character's profession. Geralt is a hired killer, essentially, and he rarely wastes his time on things that don't make use of his unique talents, unless of course he's helping his friends.

If you're set on finishing DA:I, do it before playing the Witcher. Afterwards it'll just be a mindless grind. I actually already felt that way in the second half of the game, but it's bearable if you haven't experienced better.

Edit: Yeah, calling it GotY was ridiculous. I gave it about an 8.5 on playing it after release. It's a huge world yes, but so, so empty with a ton of mindless quests. I also didn't like the combat, felt really clunky to me.

So players were killing cows in The Witcher 3, then meditating, then killing cows again in order to farm resources from their corpses to sell to merchants. It was one of those tiny exploits players found like the loot caves in Destiny. Well, instead of removing this exploit from the game, the developers of Witcher 3 added this little nugget to the latest patch: Deploys the Bovine Defense Force Initiative.

Basically, if you kill a bunch of cows then meditate, the game summons a high-level enemy to kill you. Pretty creative way to close off an exploit. High level players can kill the enemy, but if you're that powerful, you're not going to need the money anyway. I'm only at level 21 right now and have about 13,000 gold with nothing really to spend it on.

Awesome. Wish more developers dealt with exploits in this manner.

While Bloodborne is my game of the year so far. The Witcher will am might win the title. The gae side quest and sense of nature is what got me reeled in. The problem is this is a game meant to a PC game ported to console. They had no idea how to use the PS4 hardware and made the same game they have in the past but better all but graphically. So this game is amazing at what it does right but seems stale on the main story line but the side quests are way to good. Odd game.

Bought the game yesterday, and this type of game is so far out of my comfort zone but it's so much fun. I wish I didn't have to work tomorrow.

There is way too much to do in this game. I've had it for about a week and I'm barely through the main storyline because I keep doing side quests and contracts. Hell, I'm even having a good time doing treasure hunts and finding diagrams and materials for Witcher gear.

Definitely a ton of bang for your buck in this game. I won't be surprised if I end up sinking 200+ hours into it when all is said and done... and that's before they release the expansion DLC in October and early next year.

Yeah this is my issue is I play a three hour session and feel I did nothing. It is great yet at the same time... I don't understand it.

Hearts of Stone/Blood and Wine:
Not sure if I posted about this already, but I finished Hearts of Stone and it was by far my favorite questline in the game. Gaunter O'Dimm is one of the scariest characters I've ever seen (pretty sure he's supposed to be the devil himself). I was honestly shocked when looked up old discussions about the expansion and most people decided to side with him over Olgierd. I know Geralt typically doesn't like to get involved with stuff, but I just don't see how you could you make that choice.

Anyways, reason I'm typing this now is because I just saved the spotted wight from the curse in Blood & Wine and when I read her diary about the beggar who sold mirrors, I actually got goosebumps. Oh, and the connection with the spoons... honestly creeped me out.

Edit: AND THEN HIS THEME PLAYS WHEN TALKING TO MAJORDOMO

Playing this soon but not yet since I'm going in order, finished Witcher 1 about an hour ago

W2 won't be as fun though, I spoiled myself way too much when it came out. Made sure not to do the same with 3

Witcher 1 though...that ending hurt
