Time for a Rudy Gay safari?

We can absorb Lawson with a trade exception, but Shumpert for Gay doesn't work. Need to add a salary like McRae or Birdman, then it should work as 2 deals, but should work.

Trade #1 Ty Lawson to Cavs for 2nd round pick

Trade #2 Shump, Birdman, Cedi to Minnesota
Gay to Cavs
Rubio and Shabazz to Kings

IBWT was shitting himself a few days ago regarding additional salary (specifically luxury tax) going forward that would prevent us from trading for Gay. What would this trade do for us the next 2 years in terms of adding to the tax?

Nothing, at the moment.

Gay and Lawson are both free agents at the end of the season.

For this year it would add about 12mil in salary and tax. Next year it would depend on whether Korver and Gay come back.

I am beginning to see the value of having gay. He's not a great defender but serviceable.. He'll be miles better than shump and can play some pf.. Unfortunately, i dont think the kings want shump + scraps..

Can the cavs get a more reasonable 3/4 player? Aminu? Young? Covington?

Blazers are always lurking as a potentially desperate team. If they wanted, they could beat every offer for Rudy if they panic. Or, there's always a chance they make McCollum available and suddenly a multi-team deal is in the works and you've got guys headed everywhere.

First thing, there's no way this is happening for a variety of reasons. We wouldn't get Gay, Cauley-Stein, and dump Birdman. This doesn't make sense at all. Second, we would be trading five players for two back. The Kings don't have three extra roster spots open and would have to waive players to make this trade work. That's not happening. Third, ownership loves Kay and he's not being dealt.

Hypothetically speaking if Cavs don't have the current assets to land Gay would you guys be willing to trade Love for a good player + assets if it means we get the ammo to land Gay?

Maybe someone like Melo or another player that would match up well with the Warriors.

Kyrie/JR/Melo/Gay/Lebron vs the Warriors with Thompson coming off the bench.

There would be a lot of interesting line ups you could use against the Warriors. I don't think we have the current assets to really get Rudy I was curious if there was a trade you would make with Love if it assured that you get Rudy also.
