Time for a Rudy Gay safari?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This has nothing to do with anything, but it made me laugh so I shared.

Trading Shump for Rudy Gay, like I suggested in the opening post to the thread? :)

Any of these trades are long shots of course but we have to occupy ourselves somehow during the off season.
Okay, now how about a realistic trade proposal?

If you think a Rudy Gay trade is unworthy of discussion you should either A) get off the Rudy Gay trade thread, or B) make yourself useful in other ways by posting softcore gay porn, as everyone else is doing.

Yeah, I can see that being a problem. Love would have to slide to center, LeBron to PF, and TT would come off the floor. I'm okay with that if, again, LeBron and Kevin could be a consistent post presence.

But we're not out-scoring Golden State with or without Kevin Love in the lineup. Last regular season, Curry/Thompson/Iguodala/KD/Green combined for 101.4 ppg on their respective teams. Kyrie/JR/LeBron/Kevin/TT combined for 81.1 ppg. So we can't really think that way.
This logic makes zero sense as it's almost 100% certain their scoring averages will drop across the board. It's also impossible to base matchups on what happened in the Finals last year. They added a major piece and we have yet to see how it changes their paying style both offensively and defensively, as well as their team chemistry.

Green's role in the offense will surely be lessened. I also doubt they run as much through him as they did last year. Either way, Green isn't going to beat you. I'm sure we can get away with Thompson on him. LBJ pretty much has to be on Durant. There's no one else on the team that can matchup with him. This is where Kyrie and Kevin need to shoulder more of the scoring load as LeBron is going to be taxed on defense against GSW.

Anyone else getting the Rudy Gay for Lou Williams and Nick Young trade rumors on the news feed on Facebook? Same BS as the Iggy for Shump I'm guessing.

Guess I hit a nerve... but no I don't want McRae or dunleavy guarding curry for even 8 minutes in the finals. If that's our best option then be prepared to watch curry heat up like a microwave. I wasn't saying Gay would be terrible. Just that you have to think of implications of trading our only 2 backup pg for a forward. And that wasn't my only complaint. What about next summer when gay is wanting 15-20 mill a year? Not everyone on this roster can be making 15+ million not even Gilbert can sustain that.

Well the Cavs should have re-signed Delly, I don't disagree there. I just don't see how those 8 minutes against Curry is more important than finding a guy to defend Durant for 40.

Again, we don't want LeBron having to guard Durant. This is not a good idea. It's not that LeBron can't, it's just asking a lot out of him at 32 years old. LeBron after all is the most important player. What is best for him is best for the team.

I like having him on Green. I would stick to that. It turned the entire series around for us.

Again, I don't think it's a terrible trade. I see the logic (though he wouldn't be playing 40 minutes) But there's a lot of question marks. You are trading a younger player on a decent contract for an older player on a expiring contract. You Still haven't answered what cavs would do next summer when he is asking for 15-20 million a year. Because assuming jr gets close to 15. That would be the highest paid NBA player ever plus 2 max players and 3 players making 15 million+. No owner let alone in a small market can afford to pay those kind of numbers.

That's talking 130 mill for 6 players... not including fryes 7 million and dunleavys 5. And the other 6 players... your talking paying more than the nets a couple of years ago. Meaybe that's fine with Gilbert but I would rather see if shump pans out.

First, our future is now. Our focus should be on winning this year and staking our claim to being one of the all-time great teams. Second, Shump already makes $10 million. So you're talking an extra 5-7 million a year. plus whatever tax implications. With all the money being spent on this team already, letting an extra $5-7 million a year be the difference between a championship and being an also-ran, success or failure, would be foolish. Not that Rudy Gay guarantees us a championship or anything, but I think for the next year or two it's pretty clear he gives us a significantly better shot.

An extra 5-7 million is more like an extra 10-20 million with repeater tax. Not something to scoff at. But if DG is willing to pay it it's not my $. But we will see what happens. I'm just pumped for the year!

Rudy Gay remains focused on Kings amid rumors of trade to Miami

In his first year as the Kings’ coach, the last thing Dave Joerger wants to address daily are questions concerning player movement – particularly trade rumors.

But the NBA is a business of change, and Kings forward Rudy Gay has been discussed as a trade piece for a franchise trying to get better, specifically halting an 10-year playoff drought.

The news cycle this week includes national reports of the Kings trading Gay and point guard Darren Collison to the Miami Heat for point guard Goran Dragic. The internet reports that cited league sources left Joerger frowning after Wednesday’s practice.

This much is certain: After this season, Gay will opt out of the final year of his contract, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. Besides an expiring contract, he has trade appeal because he is a skilled 6-foot-8 shooter.

But how much of Gay to Miami – or anywhere – is true?

“I wake up every day and get ready to play the next game,” Gay said after practice Wednesday. “I’m with the Sacramento Kings. I prepare as if I’m going to be with the Sacramento Kings. I have no choice but to work for the Sacramento Kings.

“All the speculation is BS. Really, it’s out of my control. I’ll come here and be with my teammates and act as if I’ll be here all year.”

Gay acknowledged he’s aware of the rumors.

“I hear it,” he said. “I’ve been traded before. If I came here (to practice) as if I didn’t want to be here, I wouldn’t help my teammates. That’s a league thing. That’s not just me. That’s something you don’t want a reputation for (quitting on your team).”

Gay averaged career highs of 21.1 points and 3.7 assists with the Kings in 2014-15, but those numbers dipped to 17.2 and 1.7 last season amid a season of team turmoil.

Gay said he likes playing for Joerger, an assistant coach during the forward’s stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. Joerger said he plans on having Gay in the lineup opening night Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.

Joerger dismissed any Miami trade talk but added he understands the nature of pro sports.

“It’s part of the business,” he said. “I don’t know who puts that stuff out there. What source? Pick a source. I’m not going to sit here and speculate.”

Joerger added, “(Gay’s) a wonderful human being who’s grown as a player and a leader. He likes it here. We all want to win a little bit more. There’s going to be rumors. Guys in the last year of contracts, guys 6-8 who can do the things he does (on the court).”

Joerger said he feels for players attached to trade speculation.

“Sometimes it’s easier to take shots at teams that haven’t been successful and pick off and create speculation,” he said. “I let it roll off me. It’s easy to tell a player to let it go. It’s a lot more difficult when you live it, when you’ve got kids and family and people are talking about your future. It’s happened to me, too.”
