Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thibs would be mad to give Rubio away.

He is comfortably better than Dunn and they need a genuine creator as Rubio aside, they have no one who can create for others. Wiggins is one dimensional and KAT is no Jokic to have him run the offense.

So I'd be pretty surprised if Henson lasts past the deadline. Another DNP-CD, the bucks are winning again, and Thon Maker is starting to eat up minutes.

Henson is on 12 Million year contract for the next 4 years though.

While its not that bad but its still a lot of money. Unless he gets bought out, I doubt we go for him.

I think Hibbert is a more realistic target.

What window? There is no window they have taken a clear step back this year. For my money they're the 4th best team in the East, and that's debatable.

So you add Serve Ibaka to a non-contender and you're still a non-contender.

Now you're either paying Ibaka and Lowry max contracts and tying yourself to that trio for a long time or letting one or two of them walk for nothing at the end of the year.

This a move a team like the Spurs could make. A contender level team trying to find one more guy to put them over the hump.

But I see little reason a good but not great team should do this. If ibaka had more years left, it would make a little more sense. But this is going "all-in" for something you aren't close to achieving.

I was surprised Spurs didn't go for Ibaka because imo he would have been perfect for them. They needed one more big/athletic presence in there because Pau at this stage of his career is like a traffic cone defensively and Dedmon isn't good enough to play valuable mins against someone like Warriors. Ibaka would have been great because he could have defended Draymond well and also the PnR.

As for Toronto, I agree with your basic view. But you also have to consider this is the best Toronto have ever been.

I agree this doesn't make them better than us but unless they got someone like AD or KD, none was going to. Just because they can't defeat a LeBron James-led team in the playoffs, they can't just start tanking either. It wouldn't make sense.

I can't blame them for wanting to up their chances against us, even if its a mammoth task. Franchises like Toronto, Minnesota, Charlotte, New Orleans etc have mostly been irrelevant in their history. So, if they want to increase their chances and be relevant for once in their franchise history, good for them.

If the Cavs throw in Osman, I think the Wolves would consider that because of Rubio's inability to shoot. Even though Rubio is a great playmaker, they are not going anywhere with him due to their spacing and lack of shooting on offense. They are better developing Dunn and Jones, and adding a solid 3 and D shooting guard who can start or come off the bench. Right now the Wolves are stuck playing Brandon Rush, and Shump would be great insurance for Lavine coming off the ACL surgery next year. He's on a reasonable deal and he has championship expirene. They can then use their top pick next year on an upgrade at point guard.

Ive got 0 interest in a trade involving Shump that doesn't make us better in the finals.

None.

Zero.

If it's a player who helps us immensely in the regular season and the first round of the playoffs but gets 0-5 MPG in the finals or is just borderline unplayable he is useless to me.

Yeah Rubio for Shump is laughable.. Shumps Jumpshot seemingly is here to stay wich makes him so damn valuable to us as 3&D Player..

Agreed. This is why 95% of the options at PG and C don't make much sense. Someone like Young makes way more sense since he can Guard both forward spots, rebounds, and is shooting the 3 at 39% this year. He'd probably get 25-30 min in the Finals and would let the Cavs switch any P&R action involving Green and Durant. Makes way more sense than adding a guy like Rubio who might only get 10-15 mpg come Finals time.

With Jr and Korver, how many minutes a game will shump get around conference finals time? On top of that, Rubio is a 6 foor 4 guard who defends well, pushes the pace, and can create open shots for guys like Frye and Korver. The pick N roll with him and Lebron would also be deadly.

Henson for shump would be perfect. For a rotational big that can be decently productive and protect the rim, 12 mill a year is a bargain in the modern NBA, especially after the jump next year.

Why has Henson fallen out of the rotation in Milwaukee?

They hate him and he isn't that good. He is a good rim protector but he gets bullied and he is soft.
I think the Bucks do that trade in a second but i'm only going by the fans and the coach.

Ughh...this is the point. No minutes available at SG. Kyrie plays 35+ min in the conf finals/finals. Why use Shump on a guy that might get 15 min at most? At that point you're better off keeping Shump. You need to get a guy that's capable of playing 25 min or more in the front court. With or without Love, the Cavs need a guy like that

That's a great argument. However, it's not like teams are exactly clamoring for Shump. Minnesota would be one of those few team based on their team needs and head coach. Bottom line, Rubio is a much better fit on the current roster than Iman Shumpert is. Even though Rubio would probably only play around 15 mins a night against Golden State, those minutes are important because you don't want the game getting out of hand with Kyrie on the bench either. On top of that, Rubio would bring in added dimension off the bench that opposing coaches would need to game plan for.

I'd trade Shump for Rubio just because Rubio has higher trade value. Then i'd trade Rubio for a better player = profit.
