Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because GS has Thompson locked into a deal and he fits their system, etc etc. it doesn't behoove them to make any changes.

I hear your point though

These same points apply to Kevin Love.

If the Cavs believe they can convince George to stay, what stops Golden State from just offering up Klay Thompson for George instead, and thinking the same?

Klay Thompson doesn't miss open shots.

Yea, and Kevin shot 38% from three. This is semantics. George is an upgrade over both players, and both teams offer him the chance to win.

Neither one should risk an all-star in their primes for a guy who has openly stated he wants to play for the Lakers.

I think the same can be said for the Lakers, they shouldn't risk their young core for a player that is a different age window than the rest of their core. They should have 4 players with all star potential after the draft and two more guys that should be very good players in Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.

Getting older has alot more risks with how the league's star power is distributed. Paul George isn't signing an extension of 4 year/104 million so they have to look at it as much as a one year rental as the Cavs would. The earlier they get a star the earlier they have to then turn their assets into other star to genuinely compete against the warriors.

I think the Lakers have come to the conclusion they can't bank on LA alone being enough for free agent to sign there. I think the extra year to evaluate their 4 high draft picks is essentially to their plan. That's the biggest reason why I think the Lakers aren't engaging in trade talks. They need a big 3 or 4 to compete, it's essential that at least one of those comes from someone they draft and develop, they have enough assets to trade for another, and they still might need one from free agency. In today's NBA is just too much to ask to get two or more stars from free agency.

This is a trade I could see happening:

To CLE: Carmelo Anthony & Kyle O'Quinn
To MIN: Iman Shumpert & Joakim Noah
To NYK: Tristan Thompson, Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic

I could see this happening, as the Knicks shed salary & get younger. The Cavs get LeBron's buddy, Carmelo, and a serviceable big, in O'Quinn. Minnesota gets much stronger defensively and Thibs is reunited with Noah.

Would you guys rather trade Love to get George or keep Love and add Melo?

Why can't you do both?

If you're not giving up Love to get Melo, and you are for George, you can absolutely do both. Unless 2+2=5 now

So both.

There are too many immovable contracts in this trade.

Fultz is going to suck.. mark my words.
He is going to have knee problems and there will be better players picked after him.

I hope i'm wrong because I really like Philly.

So you believe Minnesota would be willing to trade a really good PG on a GREAT contract for Noah (worst contract in the league) and Shump (making as much as Rubio)?

That might be the worst deal I have ever seen proffered for a team.
