Trade the 8th pick? Where? Why? How?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
take cedi out of that deal and I would think about it
will say this, if SGA is there at 8(and I do not think he will be) I would grab him and keep him. 6'7 PG that can get to the rim, great passing and would be a defensive matchup problem for other teams I am all for
And Oh yeah, he hasnt had back surgery

I'd love for MPJ to fall to us, surely Charlotte would covet him and could afford to take the risk. Then they could draft Sexton or SGA for us. One, if not both, will be there at 11, as I can't imagine Philly or NY taking another PG, however I wouldn't put it pass NY. Bridges makes too much sense for Philly.

If we get MPJ then I'd expect the Clippers to be interested as well.

McMenamin: no plans to trade anybody, don't think we can get Kawhi

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23856392/cleveland-cavaliers-covet-kevin-love-next-season

The Cavaliers are not actively shopping All-Star forward Kevin Love heading into Thursday's NBA draft, multiple sources told ESPN on Wednesday. Furthermore, regardless of what decision LeBron James makes about his future in Cleveland, the Cavs have interest in keeping Love next season, sources said....

Cleveland, owner of the No. 8 pick in the draft, will make the selection without knowing James' intention for next season, multiple sources told ESPN. James is currently on vacation with his family, sources said. He has to inform the Cavs by June 29 whether he intends to opt out of the final year of his contract.

The Cavs are entering into the draft with the intention of making a selection that they will keep on their team next season. There is interest in finding a young playmaker to add to their veteran core, and Cleveland believes it will have the opportunity to choose from an available player pool that will include Collin Sexton, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Trae Young, Michael Porter Jr., Kevin Knox, Mikal Bridges and others.

Cleveland has inquired about the availability of San Antonio Spursforward Kawhi Leonard, but the franchise does not believe it has the realistic assets to convince the Spurs to deal them the former NBA Finals MVP, considering what other teams on the market can offer.

For what it's worth I think this attitude is a mistake. I think Lebron just wants a roster that gives him a fighting chance. He doesn't need us to transform into Warriors II. But this year's roster plus a #8 pick doesn't give him a fighting chance

Well the article states we are not interested in trading Love OR the #8 pick ("intention of making a selection that they will keep on their team next season") and that would take big trades off the table.

No plans to trade Love seems like a smokescreen to me.

I took how he wrote it differently. Like "actively" shopping Love is different than saying he is off the table. The #8 comment to me means that the Cavs will make the selection as a player for the team next year vs picking the player they think will have the highest or safest trade value. Basically they might draft Trae Young or MPJ because they think both will fit best on the team and have the highest ceiling of players left. If they were just picking to trade the player later, they might pick Carter Jr or Mikal Bridges.

I don't think that precludes trading either pick or Love. They are just looking for the right deals for both.

I would love to get Kemba, Batum, and somehow keep Love and add #11
that would be ideal...... Your big three is LBJ, Kemba and Love. Should be able to add a good prospect at 11

JR has an expiring, Hill

Well if you add #8 and start using Cedi and Zizic that is a better roster.
You still got JR, Korver and Hill to move to add other parts
You can still move Love for a better fit...like a McCollum

Gutting the team for one player and hope his injury is behind him

Any trades need to be with the mindset of getting more picks in this - or future - drafts. It's rebuild time.

if we are going to rebuild I don' mind getting the 4th pick with parson. fuck it.

I'm with you on that. I think the 4th pick could be a level above the 8th pick. I'd also work that angle to try to get Kawhi. I think #4 with a couple players the Spurs like has a legit shot at Kawhi. I'd even try to move up from #4 to #3 if Kawhi was in play by offering to take the protection off our pick to the Hawks next year. The Hawks reportly want Trae Young but think #3 is too high to take him.

Anyone is available for the right price. That report is BS.

Exactly, we weren't actively shopping Kyrie before he asked to be traded. He was getting thrown around in trade proposals though, they might have been one sided towards us.

We were actively trying to trade Kyrie after he asked to be traded. We were definitely actively trying to trade IT and Crowder. I don't think we are actively trying to trade Love because we can't secure a legit replacement for him. It doesn't mean we won't trade him but we have to set up the proper trades to make sure we have the proper team to go up against the warriors going forward.

I did not watch the games because it makes me ill to watch GS during the season, but Kemba's traditional offensive numbers vs GS looked good last year in two games. His numbers vs GS were terrible the previous year though. How did his advanced stats look? Is this a case of small sample size flip flopping? Is he playable or unplayable vs GS?

Not a lot of people posting this morning.. It feels like the calm before the storm.
