Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's like an offensive lineman who breaks a finger. Tape it up and play the next game. He doesn't need his fingers to play his game. Just dunk and put a hand in someone's face.

"I look at my finger and it's doing an alphabet letter," Thompson said after the 118-103 win. "I hear someone on the sideline say my (expletive) is (expletive) up. I was like, geez, can somebody foul so I can get out of here and get this taken care of."

"I'm old school man, I'm old school," Thompson said. "Tape it up, take an Advil, go out there and go play. Go do something. That's what my mom would tell me."

"I was like, 'OK the streak is still alive,'" Thompson said with a smile. "Every morning I wake up feeling good, I'm like, 'Gotta keep the streak alive.'"

Tristan's got limitations but his outlook and work ethic hasn't been changed by an 80 million dollar contract, a NBA Championship Ring, and most impressively, by a Kardashian. He's impervious to corruption.

He may not be from the midwest, but he's got that rust belt work ethic in his blood. Fuckin love this dude.

Is it just me or is tt having poor rebounding numbers the last few games?

It's not just you, TT's only grabbed 15 boards the last three games.

He's only averaging 25 minutes a night in those games though; the previous 5 games he averaged a shade over 10 rebounds (10.4) in 30.7 minutes a night.

He should bounce back; he's still averaging a career best 9.6 rebounds a game and that was over 10 before this recent slump.

Shump had 9 boards vs Warriors. Korver also had 5 a piece in Sac/Pho game. I think that is hurting TT's production a little bit.

If Shump and Korver rebounding is what's keeping TT from doing so, then either Thompson's not too engaged, OR he's spending a lot of time practicing boxing out so that other guys can get boards. Either way, this team does need to improve on the rebounding end. It's just my eye test, but they don't seem to be as good at it this year as last.

Lue trying the rebound by comitee to compensate for TT getting more blocks and being out of position to rebound?

What if.....

...the broken finger adjusts TT's shot just enough that he becomes a good mid-range shooter?

It is possible. Not likely. But possible. :)

A lot of times this thread only gets bumped when TT does something bad or it just sits around collecting dust.

TT deserves a ton of credit for his massive defensive improvement this season. He's currently at a career high in blocks per game at 1.2 and rebounds per game at 9.7 while also being a much better defender in the paint than he has been his entire career.

NBA.com has stats that shows what players hold opponents' field goal percentages to from different distances compared to their season average shooting percentages. Below are the last 3 seasons of charts for TT.

He went from -1.6% better than average 2 years ago to -1.5% last year to -10.3% better this season. Keep it up TT

Another very positive thing re: TT - hi and Kyrie have developed a nice pick n roll game (Ky taking Delly's role). Used it a ton against SA, and it worked quite a bit. Should be a staple, especially with the weapons on the 3 point stripe. Defenses won't sag, leaving the lane open. If they do, pitch it out to Frye, Korver, etc. The defense typically tries to stop Kyrie's drive, leaving TT open in the roll. If they stay honest, Kyrie has the lane. Pick your poison situation for the D.

Haven't been watching local broadcasts this year.

How has he been doing in Allie interviews?

I think TT has been a major issue throughout this slump. It's tough for me to pinpoint if it's the lack of minutes or just lack of production.

I really think this teams needs a big body it can depend on, giving us some physicality when he does go to the bench.

But TT's numbers have been trash lately.....and he isn't staying on the court. It's an underlying theme throughout our slump, with exception to his slid night against the Spurs.
