I guess I don't understand what the issue is.

Whiteside, like Thompson, has two more years on his deal. He's also overpaid, just like Thompson. Sure, his contract value is higher but he's also significantly better. We would not be eating that much more money.

Korver--I love Korver. But does a 37 year-old guy really need minutes on this team?

Sexton, Hill, Cedi, Love, Whiteside is a decent starting unit.

Clarkson, Nwaba/Hood, Dekker, Nance, Zizic, Frye is a fairly solid bench.

Zizic is 21 years old, he will be 22 when the 2020 season starts. We can trade Whiteside as a 27 million dollar a year expiring contract in 2020. No one is kicking Zizic to the curb, he's still a college kid age wise..

The point is you think he is more valuable than TT and Korver and will bring something back? LIke a 27 M contract is so big. I guess you could trade for an expriring and a bad contract. LIke are you going after Batum with this or what?

A contending team at the deadline would absolutely give up a low first for Korver if they felt like his shooting\spacing would catapult them an extra round or two. No one is saying a non playoff team would give up a first for Korver.. first round picks in the NBA should almost be 2 distinct categories.

No interest in Batum. Some have suggested the Cavs begin the season with TT starting and then bench him in favor of Zizic. That would completely kill TT's trade value. Whiteside should help Kevin Love on the defensive end. Zizic should only get better with time and practice.

I don't know hwo is going to take on TT, maybe next year. Someone should if they want to beat the Celtics.

I could not agree more. Whiteside is overpaid, but at least he's a talented player. TT is a total bum who we pretty much can't get anyone else to take. I do think Whiteside would be a big boost to Kevin Love, allowing him to focus on offense. Zizic can still get plenty of time off the bench and be brought along slowly and Nance could and should probably move back to PF where Frye should be molding him.

At the same time, I agree that this move would also press fast forward on the need to find a suitor for JR. I could see that being a horrible dynamic with those 2 on the team.
