Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Caveat: I hate Lue, and I hope he's not here next year.

BUT:

It would be interesting to see how he would coach if he let go of his stupid preference for veteran players. Maybe he really could be a good coach with young developing players.

I only say this because (1) if we're stuck with Lue I'm going to hope for the best, and (2) it's a completely different coaching paradigm being in "win now" vs. "player development."

Is it possible that some coaches are more suited for "player development" rather than "win now"? I know Lue sucked at developing players while we were in "win now" mode, but maybe his approach will be entirely different if we're trying to balance winning and development?

I don't know. I'm just trying to find some sort of positive here.

Waking up each morning and clicking on this thread hoping for Ty Lue to be sacked....

Lue is who he is. He’s a creature of habit. And he is limited.

cant we have a Cavs article without quotes from Golden State, but I think this Lue quote sis very telling.

“Me as a young coach, having older teams, I haven’t been able to really teach and kind of mold younger guys into who you want them to be,” Lue said. “That’s probably the most gratifying. If you get younger guys, you can kind of mold and fit your personality, fit the style you want to play. When you do that and see when they get it, it feels good.

“Like with Jordan [Clarkson] and Rodney Hood and Larry Nance, Cedi [Osman] and those guys, when you get an opportunity to see how to come out in the playoffs and carry it over to next year and see how they’ve grown, that’s what it’s about.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Friday he didn’t expect to be facing the Cavs in the Finals again.

“We always keep our eye on them and there have been kind of three different versions of their team,” Kerr said. “The fact that they got here surprised me, actually, watching them during the regular season. It didn’t look like they were going to have enough.

“What Ty did with his group and obviously what LeBron does night after night is just incredible. They had an amazing run. Bottom line is we’ve got a lot of talent, and we had more talent than they did, and talent wins in this league.

Any suggestions on Lue’s replacement? A lot of people dislike Lue, but never suggest another coaching candidate.

I only say this because I’d like to read up on said suggestion. Is there a coaching thread?

It is so up in the air because of the Lebron thing. Personally if Lebron goes, I would try to get Ettore Messina. Most experience of any of the assistants, and is a strong fundamentals coach. Perfect for our young Euro guys. great for Sexton to learn from.

If we want to go established coach, it is really tough. No one great is available. I wanted Fizdale even if he hasn't proven anything.

The good ones that Lebron would have been okay with are already taken.

Unorthodox choices the are available are: Messina, Jasikevichus( He is a total pyscho so very unlikely), Becky Hammon, Jay Wright(Very, very unlikely as he coaches Nova) and a few others that I can't remember right now.

I would Drew over Lue
