UFC 162- Silva-Weidman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's about time one of the big names in the lower divisions got knocked off. It's been pretty boring honestly, with Silva and GSP sitting there with the belts and nobody can touch them.

It was amazing to see Silva finally get smoked while clowning someone. Couldn't be happier.

He always does this. I do not think he bet himself to lose in this one. He was just caught. If you pull that kind of shit a million times there will always be that one moment when you will regret it.

This is what is killing people.. Silva doesnt regret it. He will most likely keep doing it in his next 10 non title matches. Silva wasnt even visibly upset

I fly out for fight week in Vegas every year and just got back last night. It was definitely surreal. Ive been to A LOT of UFC events (17) and this one was BY FAR the most electric I have been too. MGM EXPLODED when Silva was put to bed. The crowd was clearly Pro-Silva but once Silva's eyes rolled back, Weidman through his mouthpiece out and raised his hands in the air I thought the roof was going to blow off the building....Chants of "U.S.A" and "Weidman" could be heard throughout the casino until the early hours of the morning.

On a sidenote, It was great to see Frankie do his thing and get back in the WIN column. I was also happy for Munoz. He is such a great guy and after the beating Weidman put on him, I wasn't sure he would be able to get past a tough guy like Boetsch. Minus the Gracie/Kennedy fight, It was a GREAT night of fights.

If Silva has another fight in the UFC, you better believe it will be a rematch and a title fight.

Honestly Silva deserves a rematch with his record and title reign into account, but to lose because you're showboating and then to hop up and care less that you just tarnished your legacy...pathetic. I think he needs to wait on a rematch and I think he needs to right the wrong here and give max effort each time out, no idea how Dana gets this guy motivated though.

Heard that a rematch is on the works, December 28th is their target date.

No way the UFC waits on a rematch. Silva is too big of a fighter and, more importantly, too big of a draw.

I do have my doubts they actually have a rematch, though. Silva sounded like he wanted to retire, and I don't blame him. Dude is 38 and has beaten most of the best fighters in his weight class. He has nothing left to prove, and he's getting to the age where it's really only downhill from here. He was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world for a hell of a long time.

I really don't see how he tarnished his legacy. He's always been a showboating douchebag. That's why people loved him. He got caught. It happens. His legacy is still as arguably the best UFC fighter of all time. Really, the only guy right now who has a chance to pass him is Jones.

Dana White says Weidman-Silva rematch will be Dec. 28. So Silva's whole "I'm not fighting for belts any more" vow lasted exactly seven days.

I imagine that Silva was retired until he saw the amount of zeroes Dana White was offering him for a rematch.

Did Silva do all of this for motivation? Makes you wonder

It's confirmed, Silva VS Weidman II, Dec. 28. Rousey VS Tate II is co-main event.

EDIT: Sorry, I can't seem to get the vids to embed.

I think having Rousey and Tate is even better for women's MMA. If you think about it this is probably going to be the biggest selling PPV for the UFC. Just going to have mass exposure for women's MMA especially people who doubt it.

I've seen Rousey fight a few times and was at the fight where she won the title. She always puts on a show and if its anything like the first fight with Tate its going to be a bottle.

Agreed. Although I couldn't help but think about what could have been because Rousey was really supposed to defend her title (and the TUF gig) against Cat Zingano, too bad Zingano got injured.

She absolutely wrecked Tate when they fought, such beautiful violence:

But, Rousey VS Tate II has its own flavor since both women hate each other.
