The Canadians had between 2500-3500 troops in Afghanistan for a over a decade. They crushed the Taliban offensive in 2009 with Leopard IIs. That is not an inconsiderable percentage of their active front-line strength. Norway has kept around 400-500 troops there in comparison in mostly non-combat roles. They pulled-out after we started drawing down after the surge in 2011. They built a hockey rink and Tim Hortons at KAF. The Canadian DFAC was great.
