Thought this would be a good thread since I'm visiting Cleveland for the first time for a couple of nights. Driving down from Toronto on the 6th and leaving on the 8th. Likely hitting up the Cavs/Celtics preseason game but 100% going to the Browns/Ravens game, which I've already booked tickets for. Not sure if I'm going to even bother trying to get Indians tickets for the playoff game but I'd love some tips for food, bars and maybe breweries. Also, things to avoid. Whatever you feel best showcases the city.

Thanks in advance and sorry if there's already a thread but my 2 minute search didn't pull anything up. Might be one from CavsSimmy from last year?

You mentioned Riverwood in another thread. That place is where a bunch of douches hang out. Not the best for watching sports anyways. Do you want to watch the tribe game downtown? If you want to tailgate for browns, muni lot is where the majority of people go. They start early, you'll be able to just take an uber there.

Ohio City (West 25th) has a bunch of good breweries and restaurants/bars right on the main strip. The new flats is great. East 4th downtown has some really good bars/restaurants.

Thats just a quick writeup. Let me know for more questions. @kookoo

Go to The Flying Fig, great restaurant. My favorite place to go to in Cleveland also my childhood best friend's Mom's restaurant. Right across the street from Great Lakes. Great part of Cleveland.

I was there a month ago for the first time since I moved. I cannot eat wings anymore because I had the best wings of my life at the Butcher and the Brewer on 4th st. On night, after a steak dinner, I ordered more of those wings for dessert.

Damn, I didn't see any of these responses before I left for my trip. Didn't get any notifications... Odd. Trip was incredible. Was in Lakewood a lot. Day 1 went to Around the Corner for the Tribe game, the Riverwood Cafe just for a few drinks and some pool... Then we hit up El Carnicero for dinner and Game On for part of UFC. Also went to a strip club for the last fight, which I can't remember for the life of me. Next day was the Browns game. Tailgating was super fun. Everyone was nice. Played some corn hole, drank a ton of beer, watched the game from the 300s behind the sticks... Then hopped from bar to bar around the stadium watching some other football games. Went to a super divey bar around Ontario St. and St. Clair but the deli sandwiches they had were probably better than anything I've eaten in Toronto. Then went to the Casino and back to Lakewood. Drove out the next day but first went to Buckeye Beer Engine for a burger. Solid trip but I think I missed out on a lot of all of great things.

I kind of wish I went with a different crew. They were mostly just keen on drinking alcohol. Which is fine, but I would have loved to check out. Really regret not reading about Butcher and the Brewer and The Flying Fig... Maybe I'll make it down on my own once and I can meet some of you. Definitely think it's a place I could visit more often. Bought a bunch of Great Lakes beers but ended up having to head back too fast to really explore the craft brewery scene. The guy driving is not a fan, and I was kind of stuck doing some stuff I didn't really need to do in Cleveland (rippers are rippers)...
