Week 1 (9/11): Browns @ Eagles [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm trying to figure out if there could have been anything this offseason to have made this team at the very least contend for an 8-8.

and I'm not seeing it. Maybe resigning Mack to an absurd contract?

He made - maybe - 4 good throws. He had about 3 or 4 bad throws where he got bailed out. He OVERTHREW a screen and got a tipped completion. The Browns refused to cover Zack Ertz in the flat for a whole half.

He wasn't good. He was just going against a JV defense.

Sure, maybe he was a little uneven but even four really good throws (while still making all the routine throws) from a rookie QB is really impressive. Not sure what you expected from Wentz but, for a rookie, he was impressive. I mean, the dude is coming from an FCS school and, quite frankly, the Eagles offense was a total disaster last year.... people forget that.

I was in favor of the trade down, I still am. I did like Wentz over Goff. But my main point was about how the Browns organization went out of their way all this week to talk about how they didn't think Wentz was any good and his team just beat the Browns rather soundly today. They're already getting beat up by the media for passing on Wentz, not sure why they've invited the criticism.

I guess I just didn't agree with them saying to the media that Wentz 'wasn't a top-20 QB' or he 'has a slow release' even if that's what they truly thought. Just comes off as unprofessional....

What if, and stick with me here, the Browns are actually "tanking" and trying to add any fuel to the fire they could?

Regardless of any “tanking strategy” the GM and management have, Hue Jackson is still trying to win every game. The coach always has to try to win otherwise he loses the trust of the players.

And in regards to the idiotic comments our organization made...disparaging the opposing team’s QB has nothing to do with tanking.
