I definitely wasn't impressed by Kizer today.

All those sacks were because he held on the ball way too long.

The Defense might be the real deal. Can't wait for Garret to get healthy.

Eh, it was his first game, and let's not forget the receivers aren't that great.

Did I think Kizer played great? Nah, he made a ton of rookie mistakes, but there was still a lot to like.

Our receivers were shit. The run game was shit. I don't think the line was bad. Combined those two, throw out a rookie QB. He's going to have a lot of coverage sacks.

I guess I'm the latter. I was impressed in him for what he had to work with. NFL is a passing league, our Running game was non-existent and Kizer still managed to do things. He didn't look like Frye, Quinn, Weeden, etc. He looked the part, but lacks serious weapons. He's basically throwing to practice squad WRs, Britt dropped a 2nd and 16 first down clean reception, that fucked the game. Who knows what Kizer does of Britt collects that. Kizer had one terrible throw that he'd want back, but he's a rookie and that kinda shit happens. Coleman helped the rook, Britt is a bitch for what he did.

I'm all in on the kid and I demand 2 stud WRs through draft. The defense looked awesome. Next year we need WRs, straight up.

Wow wonder why you drew the line at 15

You could just, ya know, say that he was the 15th pick instead of trying to put a spin on it.

But really what am I missing here? Coleman wasn't great but he finished with 5 catches, 53 yards, and a touchdown (which was a great catch)

Why is he the new whipping boy? I don't get it

He's still raw. And missed a lot of time last year. I don't think there's reason to be really down on him at this point. He'll get better.

The rest of the receivers we have, wow, it's very, very thin though.

It's why no one should be concern over Kizer's play. Going against an NFL defense for the first time in his career. Where the speed of the game is by far greater than anything he's seen.

No surprise he took a ton of coverage sacks. Kenny Britt was dog shit.

He definitely needs to process information quicker. At least half those sacks are on him, and a few drives were done because of bad sacks. That said, I thought his accuracy and decision making on his throws were good for the most part and he was money whenever he identified the coverage and made decisions quickly. A lot to build on, I just hope that they can get the work in to the point that he reduces all of these unnecessary hits.

Defense looked great in 1st half. Second half, the inexperience showed. Greg clearly gets the best out of his players. They just got out played in spots by a better team. Kudos to keeping it close.

Offense had it's moments. I think Crow gets a better ypc going forward. Rollin challenged Kizer to throw and he succeeded.

The holding onto the ball was somewhat frustrating but that's a fixable trait that will happen with expereince. I'd rather see that that costly turnovers any day. Good to see he can read a defense and can see his WRs aren't getting open.

My 5-11 may be much more likely than anticipated after seeing that game.

This year is gonna be fun.

Loved the defense but man kizer needs to learn to get rid of the ball soon or he won't last very long. Can't take that many hits.

also I hate tabor and Britt.

I keep reading how Kizer needs to get rid of the ball but not addressing the awful WRs he's working with. It's not just him, the WRs are to blame as well. They're causing little separation, the run game was blah, I feel like TEs made better plays than WRs outside of Coleman.

Chances are if Kizer speeds up his reads, he's throwing a pick to a jumped route because of our shitty WRs.

I agree the WRs can't get separation but he needs to throw the ball away if nothing is there. The only guy we have that can get separation is Coleman. I wish we attacked Haden more downfield with Coleman. Covered or not you just gotta hope Coleman can run past Haden and get it.

I think its funny people think Kizer played bad.

20-30 for 220 yards, 1/1 t:i rate as the 3rd youngest QB to play EVER.

I would say we sound spoiled but thats not true....

Also, I thought Derrick Kindred looked outstanding. Really good coverage 1 on 1 vs the TE on that 3rd down play, and the pick as well as a couple run stops. If he can lock up the 2nd starting safety role, that would be amazing.

Also had a running TD. He's very dynamic. I feel a lot better with him as a scrambling/short yard running QB than most of the guys who use their legs who are too small to take those hits.

50-50 on that. I feel comfortable saying he will get the timing to throw it away, but a few of the sacks he couldn't because he was pinned in the tackle box

I wasn't a big fan of how he and peppers were used. Playing 15-20 yards off the LOS but they did a great job in their roles. Kindreds coverage ability have been a pleasant surprise.

He held the ball to long, didn't utilize his checkdowns (if they even existed) and didn't throw the ball away. He also has Jeff Garcia feet in the pocket, and strides offensive lineman out of blocks.

Kiser is easily the best QB we've had since the Browns return, easily, and that's after his first professional game. People saying he was bad/disappointing is baffling to me. What were you expecting? I think he played as well as you could of hoped. He didn't make a ton of bad decisions and kill any chance his team had of winning. Yeah he held onto the ball too long, but he's a 21 year old inexperienced QB, that's pretty much to be expected.

I think he showed a lot of signs, I'm pretty much sold, I think he's the guy. Of course he's got to get a lot better, but I think he will.
