Week 15 (12/20): Browns (3-10) @ Seahawks (8-5) [4:05 PM EST, FOX]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Today is the first time I felt the wr size bothered us. All in all the game was about what I expected. A few drops killed us. I could definetly do without Taylor Gabriel for next yr.

This.

The Browns have a 1000 yard receiver, a tight end who is going to Hawaii, a young running back who is the third best pass-catcher in the NFL (per PFF).

There are a couple weapons out there, and they're by no means a great offensive football team.

To call them the worst in the league is a terrible excuse, not remotely true.

Capping it off with the smarmy "Can't wait for Goff to come in here and win 10" stuff is just childish. At least be as consistent with your excuses for Manziel as you are other players on the field.

Nauseating.
If Goff had played for Ohio State I bet many of the fan base would be cheering every loss (remember Fail for Cardale?)
It amazes me how little some Cleveland fans and media think of him and Lynch as prospects that they are declaring we dont need to take a qb in round one. Just unreal.

I don't think its really the right argument to compare what one quarterback (in his fifth? start) does with his lack of weapons with what Cam Newton does in his fifth season with the team.

I thought Manziel played really well yesterday, and would have been much more reflective in the box score if we didn't drop so many third down conversions... The defense lacked the ability to get off the field on third down, and the story of the game is Seattle having nearly 60% of the total Time of Possession.

Don't think any quarterback in the NFL would look like an all-pro if his wide receivers were consistently dropping third down conversions and his line was making pass protection gaffes.

Not making any kind of 'excuses' for Manziel's play because I thought him and Duke had the best games of any of our offensive players, but I don't see any point in 'dinging' him for this game when nobody else on the team showed up to play.

Damn, thought we had this one. :chuckle:

If our offense, defense, and special teams had just played a lot better, it was ours.

The offense played WAY better than the defense! Sick of you putting everything on Johnny he NEEDS HELP!

I'll be nice and let this one pass without a disagree.
Statistically they're almost identical with Barnidge hauling in two more touchdowns.

I know it's hard to believe but Barnidge has been a top 3 tight end in the league this year.

While that may all be true, Olsen's secondary contributions run far behind that of Barnidge (taxidermy, model train engineering, needlepoint, etc.).

So I can understand his disagreement.

1 fumble, 1 pick into triple coverage, failing to recognize and adjust to the pre-snap blitz about 8 times, a couple sacks in which he tried to do too much and held for too long, 5.0 yards per pass attempt, QB Rating of 69, 59% completion, 161 yards.

In the second half of games this year, Johnny's completion % lowers by 7%, his YPA lowers by 2+ yards, his QB Rating lowers by over 27 points, he's taken 9 more sacks, and thrown 3 of his 4 interceptions.

These aren't anomalies.

If you think second half defensive adjustments are scary, beware of what a defense can do with accumulated film (see: Derek Anderson).

I agree with you on the Ohio State thing, but I also think that in general Browns fans are ridiculously gun-shy about using a high pick on a QB. A lot of them are stuck in the mindset that we've "ruined" a bunch of quarterbacks, in spite of the fact that most of those guys (Frye, McCoy, Weeden) were never going to be good to begin with.

EDIT: There is also this notion we need to have every single other weakness on the roster completely addressed before we can draft a QB.

Let's also not forget his contributions to the 7th Floor Crew. Even the great Barnidge has never accomplished such a feat.

Olsen has a 3rd leg that Barnidge doesn't have. Therefore Barnidge is having the better season since he doesn't have the advantage G-Reg Olsen does.

Olsen has put up those numbers with one of the leagues best QBs throwing the ball. Barnidge has done so with the football equivalents of Tom Gorzellany, Todd Van Poppel and Austin Davis throwing him the ball. "Barnidge and Winslow", "Barnidge and Newsome", or "Barnidge and the Fusion Dance result of Jerry Rice and John Mackey" are much more appropriate comparisons.
