What a serpentine road these two franchises, once the most bitter rivals of the late 1980s, have traveled this season. The Broncos are close to where people predicted they would end up, with a dangerous defense but inexperience on offense. The GM seemed ready to punt on success this season when they traded Demaryius Thomas to the Texans for a pick. In an unexpected surprise, the Broncos run game has found itself a one-two punch in Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay... only the high pick is the change of pace back to the rising undrafted rookie.
The line has the Broncos favored by 2 1/2 which is fair. The Browns have a track record of disappointment on the road, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Browns offense is gaining yards at a historic clip at home and on the road, but the turnover battle seems to tilt away from Cleveland outside of Cleveland. Get ready to watch two of the better edge rushers in the NFL go against the uneven offensive tackles.
My pick is Denver Broncos 24 - 21 in overtime. I'd love to be proven wrong by the Brownies but I see so much similarity to the Texans defense on the road in Denver.
