It is Most likely Lebron will leave at the end of the season. So we will be keeping the 8th Pick. I would try and trade K Love for some picks aswell

Portland is toast, whats the chance they have a fire sale?

If they do end up losing in the 1st round, I'd think they have to do something. So, with the looks of it, I'd say the chances are pretty decent. But like most teams, they'll look to see 'how they can improve' before throwing the towel in and starting a rebuild.

If Jevon Carter started this would be a powerful lineup but I'm not quite sure it puts us over the top. The depth is suspect in places and we are still weak at starting center. Also, I'm not convinced by Devin Booker on the defensive end at shooting guard. Yes, the other guys, especially Jevon Carter (NBA DPOY potential), will make us strong on defense. But Kanter and Booker are liabilities.

How about swinging an additional deal and getting Butler and Karl Anthony Towns from Minnesota? If we use the assets we would have used to get Booker and then also sign and trade Hood to include in the deal, they would be very available IMO. Hood is younger and cheaper than Butler, and is a better pure shooter from 3. Also, Minnesota would LOVE to get KLove back, he put up better offensive numbers than Towns.

I also feel like Chris Paul would be a good addition to the lineup in terms of mentoring Jevon Carter. We don't really need two young developing point guards in JC and Fultz both. So flip Fultz to Houston for Chris Paul (they will save oodles of money on salary and will be set up with a point guard of the future -- they can't be feeling good that Paul is over 30).

We pull that trade, our lineup is:

CP III / JC (they are about equal in terms of talent but maybe Paul could start early in the year as Carter gets used to the league)
Butler / Clarkson
Kawhi / Green (we can re-sign green for vet min)
AD / Nance
KAT / Zizic

Now *that* is a competitive lineup, even without Lebron! KAT has some development to do at the defensive end, but with the other starters all being solid defenders I feel like we could cover for him. The bench is just OK, but Calderon will help there and maybe we can get the other teams to send some incoming first rounders in the trades so we can gradually build that out. What do you think?

I see what you did there!

Exactly, if Bron leaves then Love needs to be the next out the door. There's no point at all in keeping him. If Nikola Mirotic can net a first rd pick, then Love should be able to net us at least a couple of those.

I think its more of less a done deal Lebron leaving us. Has much better chance of winning with Philly and they have 2 young stars. we can't offer that. so when Lebron leaves , we need to trade / get rid of players like Love , JR , TT , Korver and get picks or young players.

Yeah its called a rebuild. good luck moving Thompsons contract next year. Maybe in two, when its an expiring. JR might be moveable, but probably not. Korver, maybe.
Too many shit contracts, with Thompson being the new Noah.

we'll maybe need to play TT a lot anyway to make sure we do tank :chuckle:. we will need to finish bottom 10 to get our pick

Keep Lue as a HC, play TT at center and re-sign Jeff Green to be the #1 option. Welcome to the Cavs RJ Barrett or Nassir Little LMAO.

The thread is dead... it's basically me,you and 3 Ball. I wonder what there is to discuss there..throw me some topics to think about.

Give me some tasks bro so we can get that shit going again.

I don't want this thread to die and be buried in the archives.

Can we simply rename this thread with the name of the draft pick, or the name of player we receive in a trade?

Okogie and Melton. Big-time sleepers or nah?

Jaren Jackson's jumpshot. It's time to start overanalyzing that shit and second guessing back and forth for the next two months.

Fucking monster game for Musa last week with 36 points, 10 assists, and 8 boards in Croatian league play. Are we back on that bandwagon or not?

You guys are hip to my boy Dzanan Musa? Nice. Watched him play a bunch of times because I'm always keeping tabs on my Bosnian ilk. He has a chance to be good in this league.

I’m “guessing” LeBron would love to sign a max deal with Cleveland. I’m also “guessing” there is an amAzing chance he would if Gilbert sold the team.

Blazers, Wizards, and Spurs are all down 2-0.

This can only mean good things for the Cavs. It's been mentioned 100 times in this thread that the Wiz and Blazers losing in the first round would make it much more likely for Beal (or Porter) and McCollum to make a move after this season.

Obviously, we will be competing with other teams for the services of Kawhi, Beal, and McCollum, but so far so good.

Why does the NBA wait so long to figure out the lottery order?

I'm thinking TT follows the direction of the original star athlete to knock up a Kardashian and ends up in the WNBA. :chuckle:
