Yeah, I'll probably get yelled at for this post, but it's kind of funny to look back now at how during March (these posts are from 1 month and 1 day ago) people in here were considering Dame untouchable and now people are questioning whether or not they even want to get Dame for the pick

Rich I don't mean this as an attack on you. Just that I maintained in this thread from the beginning that Portland should be looking to break it up and was met with talk that the lotto pick for Dame was a pipe dream joke.

It's natural for new information to change valuations of players, but we get pretty extreme on here about 1 month a guy is untouchable and the next half the board doesn't even want him.
Imagine trading the Brooklyn pick for Dame and him playing like Mo for us in the playoffs. As a second option, I think he'd be good here but man his playoff struggles are glaring, might be our best option though for a superstar since Wall is probably not getting dealt, at least not to us because of the eastern conference bullshit.

Who was guarding Dame for the most part ? I honestly haven’t had the energy to follow another teams collapse. I’m guessing Rondo was on him for the most part. Not sure I want Dame if 32 year old beat up Rondo can hold him in check 4 games in a row. A superstar PG should be able to go off in 2 of those games.

Just checked Rondos numbers and holy fuck did he dominate at the tune of 3.3 mill 1 year contract . F Dame for the max

Tossing out a slow pitch, if LeBron stays.. Anyone interested in Rubio ? He’s still only 28 and on an expiring contract next season . Rubio was up for grabs at the trade deadline . I’m glad Altman choose Hood instead . Hate to have a lockdown PG with elite passing skills to team up with LeBron.

Edit : Okay now I’m livid . There was a deal for Rubio on the table and Altman shit his pants . I demand answers.

Jrue guarded him ..

Now that ESPN finally has their lottery simulator, I was pleased to see that Young and Carter consistently went between 4-6, leaving us with a choice of Bamba or MPJ every time we stuck at 8

Not that that means anything, but it sure was pleasing to the eyes.

It's easy to see how teams could get cold feet on Young when it comes down to it...but I never understood how some mocks had Carter in the late lottery, or how some Cavs fans acted like he was a worst-case scenario for us. He's just a rock solid player in almost every possible way, which is not something you normally say about an 18-year-old (ok, turned 19 last week). Maybe the closest thing to a surefire All-Star in the draft after Doncic.

Player A: 20 points/40 on 0.51/0.40/0.80 shooting splits, 5.0 3PA/40

Player B: 23 points/40 on 0.51/0.40/0.79 shooting splits, 4.5 3PA/40

Player C: 21 points/40 on 0.53/0.41/0.75 shooting splits, 3.7 3PA/40

Any guesses?

EDIT:

Player A: Jaren Jackson, freshman at Michigan State.

Player B: Ray Allen, freshman at UConn.

Player C: James Harden, freshman at Arizona State.

Whoa.

So do you think we should take Carter and trade Love?

Carter's 3rd on my personal big board behind Doncic and Jackson, so yeah, I think he'd be a great pick if he's still on the board. Just made that last post to point out how freaky Jackson's ceiling could be. All the offensive game and agility of a SG plus the size and shot-blocking instincts of an elite defensive center. Totally crazy.

As for Love...yeah, it's easy to say trade him after how he's performed these last few games. But he'd be a fine fit with either Jackson or Carter, both of whom would allow him to move back to his natural PF position. I'd probably rather give him the offseason to get fully healthy and to get in a better place mentally than trade him when his value's at such a low point.

Someone here thought you couldn't pair Carter with Love was why I asked.

Basically, he is not a total physical freak which is why he isn't supposed to go higher. Do you think he has a lot of upside? There are so many Al Horford Comparison, but i dunno. He looks much more like center to me. Horford was always a pf big enough to play center really.

Carter looks like a modern center to me. I bet his game opens up further with NBA spacing.

Probably makes a lot of sense for the Cavs if they don't luck out and get top 3.

I'd prob still take Mikal Bridges, but I would not be mad about Carter at all. He is good

I think he's more athletic than some people give him credit for...he's very comfortable finishing above the rim, and notched a 39" max vert last summer (video: View: https://twitter.com/DukeMBB/status/884800274392653824/video/1
), which is elite for a big man. His combination of muscle mass (260 pounds with good definition) and hops is pretty rare in a big his age.

I think it's pretty obvious at this stage that Love is better off defensively at PF, and Carter seems like a natural center, so I don't understand what the issue is playing those two together. Would Jackson be an even better fit? Yeah...sure...Jackson's a total freak who could fit next to virtually any big in the NBA. But we shouldn't hold that against Carter, except to say that we'd like Jackson even better if he somehow slides to us.

I really think this draft is going to produce a big portion of the next crop of "great" players. Such a great draft to have a pick in. Even if we trade it the value is higher than a traditional 8th pick. An that's assuming we don't win the lotto, which we tend to do sometimes.

Just played the lottery on espn...cavs got the 2nd pick...
